  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Bode Miller & HEAD - Speed-o-holic

now, if only he could actually go as fast as he claims he "needs" to go, his prime is past him, but nice spot, well shot.

nice production! loved watching it and loved the use of sound

Alright there was definitely a mistake as far as wardrobe on this commercial. Bode Miller is wearing a Nike shirt with the swoosh logo predominantly displayed for nearly 5 seconds during the most "dramatic" part of the commercial. What makes this worse is that the Nike logo was displayed before Head ski brand was even mentioned. I honestly thought that this was a Nike commercial even though I read the title of the thread.

I did however like the car shots and the lighting.

I don't know about all the ski-related stuff, so I'll leave those comments to you guys... :)

Thx for your thoughts, I really like this piece, too. Everybody who worked on this this did a great job imho. Congrats everyone.

I don't think this is a mistake, it's just the way sports work - my guess is that he contractually is obligated to wear apparel supplied by his sponsors whenever he acts as a public person.

Fun fact: the shots of Bode were all greenscreen-shots - he never actually was in the same room as the other holics.

No, that is not how sports endorsement contracts work. Commercials are not considered to be public representation. That would be at a race, at a sporting event etc. Not on a paid advertisement for another company altogether. Nearly every professional athlete in existence has multiple endorsements. None of them blatantly (whether this was planned or not) advertise other products while doing advertisements for one specific brand. For example Michael Jordan has/had endorsement deals/contracts with Nike and Hanes at the same exact time. Why does Michael Jordan wear Hanes t-shirts in Hanes ads when he is a Nike endorsee? Because he is selling that product. Would Hanes spend money to do close up shots of Air Jordan shoes or an entire Nike basketball uniform? No, because they do not want to be paying to advertise for Nike.

Ultimately the point is that I noticed the swoosh immediately and it was very noticable during the most "dramatic time." I'm not joking that I thought this was a Nike commercial and not a Head commerical on my very first view, up until the very end. I would not be pleased with this outcome for paying to advertise for another company. Really Bode Miller must own some Head ski t-shirt or even just a blank shirt altogether. But really someone should have caught this during the green screen before it even made it this far.

Again, I do indeed like some of the look of the commercial, especially the car shots. I was just stating what was overlooked and I'm honestly surprised that Head haven't noticed.
