In order to give RED ONE users access to some quality cine glass in a world of
hard-to-find lenses, Visual Products is now manufacturing a BNCR lens mount
for the RED ONE camera.

The BNCR RED Mount mounts to the camera using the existing PL mounting holes
and requires no modification of the camera. The RED ONE PL mount can be removed
and switched to the BNCR RED Mount in minutes.

The RED ONE back focus adjustment functions the same for the for the BNCR RED Mount
as it does for the factory PL mount.

The BNCR RED Mount is priced at $1,390.00

VERY VERY COOL.

Will this also accept Russian OCT-19 lenses? I've always heard they are very similar mounts.

I have been waiting a long time for this - looks lovely!

Mike,

The BNCR and OCT-19 mounts do appear similar, but I don't think they
are compatible. Hopefully, someone more familiar with the OCT-19 mount
can confirm this.

Does your BNCR mount for the RED camera have a stop pin or screw for when the slots are open?

Almost...

Almost...

VERY VERY COOL.

Will this also accept Russian OCT-19 lenses? I've always heard they are very similar mounts.

From what I have found, BNCR can fit on an OCT-19 and be focused out a little if you make the index hole into a slot.

The OCT-19 is about 1/2mm shorter backfocus, so the lens would have to be focus past INF to focus at INF in BNCR.

It looks like Russians started out with BNCisky but rounded off the backfocus later to even mm, and made the index hole into a slot because the radius would not need to be drilled in the right place then.

From the internet (see Olexandr on cinematography.com):

OST-19-144 = 68mm Diameter, flange to focal 61mm (about)

BNCR = 2.680" (68.072mm), flange to focal 2.420 (61.468mm)

The diameter of the OCT-19 is smaller so should slide in, unless something hits the mount inside.

The focus marks would be 0.468mm off, past INF direction, so only prime lenses would be usable and only if they are the ones that can focus past INF far enough.

Zoom lenses, and 'Scope lenses would not work unless their backfocus was adjusted.

The thickness of the four ears may be an issue if the mount gap is not big enough the lens will not fit, and if the mount gap is too big the lens will not lock. There may be an ajdustment to the stop on the mount that could be used to change the gap.

Try before you buy! You can see how far the lens goes past INF with a Vernier Caliper on the fixed and moving parts, you need more than 0.468mm.

You might need to have some metal taken off in a lathe, and make a spacer for the mount ring to set the backfocus, and to adjust the width of the index slot.
