It's happened twice now with the banding in the same location both times. There's the vertical blue line towards the right third of the frame, and some others near the center (more apparent on kitchen image).

The first time it happened I was shooting in the forest and didn't catch it because it blended in with the shots. The second time it appeared I caught it, restarted the camera and it disappeared.

I'm shooting 5k-WS running Epic firmware 5.1.49.

Has anyone encountered this before? I did some searching in the forums but was't able to find anything like it.

here's a link, might be better quality than the attached thumbnails.

Does this go away with black shading, and how is the exposure, perhaps you could post an r3d frame ( export from RedcineX pro) for reference. Nasty problem worth sorting out asap.

I have a similar situation but with a purple line. I'm on 5.1.50 and I suspect this was from a series of black shadings I did. Fortunately mine went away after a few minutes. I'm in talks with RED to get this resolved but its a nasty little thing that shows up on the monitor and recorded on the R3D as well.

It seems to be an intermitent problem. I tried to replicate the banding after posting this but couldn't get it to come back.

Prior to each shoot I black shaded, so I don't think that was the issue. Also I had probably taken 20 - 50 additional clips prior to when the banding appeared.

Here are the r3d frames:

It does seem like an intermittent problem. If you haven't done so, submit a support ticket to RED. The engineers weren't able to diagnose the problem looking at the log file so I had to send my camera in. Hopefully not the case for you.

Thanks Tom,
I used the camera again today and had no sign of banding. I submitted a ticket too so we'll see what they have to say.

Prepare to send your red back in.

My epic had the same problem, except the whole area to the right side of that line, exactly at the same place, was blue. It happens more often when the cameras temperature below 45 degrees.
There was a big thread on many new epics with bad boards getting bricked almost a year ago. If the problem occurs within 90 of recieving the camera you can get an additional year of warrenty for free.
