Put in a support ticket but wanted to get some feedback from other users and share the experience.

Anyone know what it means when the Epic's timecode (usually white in standby and red when shooting) turns blue and won't shoot? Went through a few restarts with the same result, then suddenly went back to normal and hasn't missed a beat since.

This was after putting the side handle on for the first time (went through the auto accessories firmware update) and the Bomb EVF.

This is on build 2.05.

Not worried about it and camera working great, just like to explain everything that happens so I can be prepared in the field. Also good to share experiences.

Cheers,

Jim

Jim, I didn't get the last log file from you. I tried emailing you direct also.
Can you send me a log file for this one?

Hey Deanan, I emailed it twice, along with another email asking if my emails were coming through. I'll try again now, let me know if you don't get it.

Sent the new log with the support ticket about an hour ago if email fails.

Odd. Didn't get it. I'll email you right now also.

Got your email, responded. Sounds like mine aren't getting through. I'll try a different return address in case it's spamming.

Hi Jim

Did you get a resolution on this bug?

Had a shoot where the Epic stopped recording a clip with blue timecode on build 2.05.
Clip refused to load when we tried to check what we had by playing back on camera.
Camera wouldn't record afterwards until we changed mag and rebooted and then OK. The dodgy clip played back black in Redcine-X v506.

Hey Eric, never got further information on the blue timecode and it hasn't happened again.

Wonder if it's media related or on the camera/firmware side.

Hey Guys,

The blue TC is a general indication that there has been an error.. did you see any other errors displayed on the RED onboard monitor? Send us a LOG to RED Support along with a clip name that it happened on. We'll take a look.

Hey Nate, thanks for the info! Sent my log through with the support ticket and to Deanan, but may be able to find it again if it helps.

For me their weren't any another indications, but I had just come out of a particularly nasty lockup and firmware reinstall so mine wasn't completely out of the blue.

Hey Jim, I found your support ticket, and just emailed you.

Thanks Nate, log file sent. Seems to be a pretty rare, isolated and non-chronic issue. Maybe the Epic's elusive version of a CODEC FAULT? :biggrinjester:
