I expect a 'no', or a stony silence, since this is going to be more relevant a year or two from now, and thus probably a dumb question, but thought I'd ask...

RED have a FF35 camera in the works. This is no secret. Maybe it'll be called EPIC, maybe Scarlet, more likely a new name for a new line. Maybe we'll find out at NAB :smile5:

Now, RED have a fantastic upgrade program for RED ONE owners, unmatched in the industry as far as I know. Well done; I don't *expect* such an incredibly generous offer to be repeated. But I did wonder...

1. Will there be an upgrade or trade-in program for RED ONE owners who decide to take none of the EPIC upgrade stages available, and prefer instead to hold on to their RED ONE and wait for the FF35 to become available before upgrading?

2. Will there be an upgrade offer for EPIC owners to upgrade their EPIC brain to a FF35 brain?

Thanks

Mike

Hi Mike,

Don't know about #1, but for #2 Red has said many times that the brain upgrade path is to sell it privately and buy a new one. The benefit comes in not having rebuy accessories etc. since they often make up about half the purchase price.

Hey Mike- At one point last year, the answer was YES. You could wait and get credit for the FF35 MONSTRO brain only... but its all subject to change. Has been at least 6 months since it was last asked.

1. No upgrade from R1 to FF35 Monstro.. the upgrade plan for R1 is to EPIC-X only at this time.

2. Need to wait and see.

Of course.. this may all change. Again. Things will be alot more clearer once production begins for EPIC-X.

Interesting. Thanks everyone, especially Jarred, for the info; that's more of an answer than I expected.

Mike
