Hey All,

I'm shooting a job on Tuesday, it's pretty simple. A Soccer star talking to camera in front of a blue screen. Their jersey has a little green in it so we're talking blue screen.

So I'm wondering if anyone has had any experience with the less sensitive to blue light Mk1 chip being an issue? I'm just wanting to obviously make sure the blue channel and the blue screen make for the best key possible?

Any thoughts or tips would be greatly appreciated!

If you have ligts enough use a 80C blue filter and set the R1 too 5000K and use 1/100 as shuttertime (lessmotionblurr for keying).

If you have not enouch light , be sure you are not under exposing!!

I did many green and blue screen shots and the RED 1 is perfect for it!!

Red One 1265 (next wednesday on his way to get the M-X upgrade) and Epic (hopefully very soon)

Adam,

Some good advice already. If you keep the exposure healthy on both the talent and the screen all should be good. The blue screen should be at minimum on parity with the foreground exposure. I have done tests with an extra stop on the screen with great results as long as you have a good separation from the talent to screen distance. If you light with daylight sources on a new camera build there should be no issues. If tungsten half blues on the blue screen lights could not hurt.

If your talent is just talking I would not worry about faster shutter speeds unless you got more light than you need.

Have fun I am shooting soccer stars myself this week but in 3D on green screen but not on Red

I recommend using a 1/8 blue filter on everything. This will get your color temperature up over 4000K which will result in less noise. You'll need more light but you will have less noisy images.

the blue screen should be 1 stop under your key to get a solid saturation from the chroma.

This is a film colour negative requirement, not digital. Same as key or as high as possible without clipping is what you want for a digital capture.

I have never heard of that Cail, my key's are always nice and clean using this method, where did you get this info from?
"High as possible without clipping", this does not make sense, can you explain please
