Here's a short film (first of three) directed by Luke Scott (Ridley's son) that bridges the gap between the original (2019) and the upcoming movie (2049).

If it was shot on Alexa Mini and Alexa XT Studio, then IMDb has their source format (6k) wrong.
I'm surprised: the movie is not doing as well as expected financially...
"Despite critical praise and optimistic tracking, Warner Bros./Alcon/Columbia’s “Blade Runner 2049” has crashed hard at the box office, grossing just $31.5 million in its opening weekend from 4,058 screens against a reported budget of $150 million."

“Blade Runner 2049” is heading for a downbeat $31.5 million opening weekend at 4,058 sites in North America. Sunday’s estimated result throws serious doubt onto what had been high hopes for a box office success story. In one of the most surprising turnarounds in recent years, “Blade Runner 2049” fell far short of expectations, which had been in the $45 million to $50 million range at the start of the weekend amid stellar reviews, strong advance ticket sales, and the revered status of 1982’s original “Blade Runner.”

"The long-awaited follow-up to Ridley Scott's 1982 cult classic grossed $31.5 million from 4,058 theaters, a dismal start for a movie that cost $150 million to make after tax rebates and incentives. Heading into the weekend, all signs pointed to Blade Runner 2049 taking in $45 million or more. One issue: The sci-fi epic runs 163 minutes. To boot, it skewed heavily male (71 percent) and older, with 86 percent of the audience over the age of 25, including 63 percent over 35."

A carbon copy of the original would not have worked today. It would've come off as a shallow nostalgic trip in niche form. This one actually tells a story about K that stands on it's own and hold up as a fantastic sequel. There's not a lot of franchises that managed to do this.
The original is defined by specific light-designed visual aesthetic and memorable music score.
Thick blacks, contrasty light, coloured lighting combinations filling the frame with punchy film palette. Vangelis musical artwork and sound design merged into one and crafted with best synths of the time and highly praised classics today.
Visual and musical part making that movie what it was.
Both of which are here non-existent, with all the resources they had. Mild pleasing light, low saturated simple colors, no music. Synths ? Few tones here and there with similar but very basic sounds, cashing in on nostalgia. End credits some basic, effect-seeking noise, compared to one of the most recognizable electronic themes of all times, which added the unforgettable emotional closure to the story.
Completely different movie for me, using same topic and similar art design.
