These are selling for $3500 to $4200 on ebay because of scarcity. Includes everything in box including Davinci Resolve dongle.

The black hole sun issue is something that the Red One originally had as well and was fixed with firmware update. Alexa (purple holed sun) had it as well, and I believe the Pocket might have it (not 100% sure about that) but does not now. So I would think firmware will take care of this.

The only major issue I have seen with the 4K is some vertical banding that seems to appear rather obviously in some cameras and almost not at all in others. But that is something I would need to see for myself in tests so I knew exactly what the conditions were when shooting. Hopefully the 4K is not exhibiting the hot pixel issue like my Pocket has had.

If Blackmagic manages to address a lot of missing features and some of these technical issues via firmware then I think their range of cameras will be a good option for people in this budget range.

I'm sure Michael is selling a camera that is in great condition, and any of the above mentioned issues are things that either his camera doesn't exhibit or will hopefully be remedied by BMD if it does. The black hole sun can be dealt with easily in post, but still needs to be fixed by BMD for sure.

Many of these are having the dreaded black orb issue again. Does this one have that problem shooting towards bright sources?

What Steve said on the black orb issue. I think BMD is probably going to be pushing to take care of any issues they can and rely on the price point to buy some patience, as RED did one the REDONE with us early adopters.

I received this one two weeks ago just before a weeklong Olympic swimmer training Epic shoot in the Keys with fellow reduser Frazier Nivens. Took it with me and only shot about 10 minutes of the swimmers as I only got an SSD for it from Amazon on the last day. Picture looked fine to me but didn't do any bright source tests. Actually made a deal with another reduser to sell him this one and I just got another one in yesterday and am communicating with another reduser that wants it. Based on my very early order it seems that I am being allocated about one a week. I have been allocated 2 for next week ( I asked that they delay ship on this week since after the 20th it goes on next months AMEX bill :blush5: ) If someone wants one of those (I need to keep one for housing construction for demo at NAB) let me know ASAP.

For the record, I really don't want to step on Red's or REDUSER's toes with these sales, or in any way imply that these are real competition for Epic - it is simply a great really low cost option for a knockabout 4K camera that you can also hand to your wife or intern or PA without too much worry, and especially if you can use the copy of full version Resolve. I could easily sell these on ebay or locally on craigslist - probably for a little more right now - but I would rather give some fellow redusers a shot. I got into reselling these cameras mainly to go with the underwater housings but it is kind of the in-between season right now.

Feel free to call with any questions, I don't always see PMs or emails right away when I'm working in the shop as I will be for the next few days.

Alright, so I have the first one up for sale again.

My first buyer (fellow reduser that shall remain nameless) - that gave me a $400 credit card deposit, pending the wire transfer - has asked me to cancel the sale as he is having trouble clearing one of his customers checks. I have agreed to refund the deposit even though it was supposed to be to lock in the sale.

Second sale is going through fine.

$3350 + shipping
Wire transfer - credit card ok for $450 deposit to hold

Prefer you call rather than email or PM 9 5 4 9 3 7 6 6 0 0

I can take a credit card to hold the camera pending the wire transfer, but in the future the deposit is non-refundable.

I have attached a photo of the two cameras with today's newspaper to show I definitely have them in hand. (the second one hasn't shipped yet)
