Black Shading with non RED CF card?

I have a 133X speed 1 gb CF card.. (Extreem III) how come thats not fast enough just to format and do a black shading? im not trying to shoot with it

i found a way around it reinstalled build 13, (i had 15) which accepted my cf card then did the formatting and black shading wthout a problem

This kinda-sorta brings up something that's been in my head for a couple of weeks. Can you use a non-RED, "slower" CF to perform a firmware update? It'd sure be nice to be able to keep cheaper multiple CFs with firmware versions.

i upgrade firmware using the SD slot ( 1gig card) ....
