I upgraded to the latest build and when I try to black shade I get an "undefined" error.

I upgraded via SD Card with no problem and have tried switching out formatted CF cards with no joy.

Any help would be much appreciated.

I have had the same problem when trying to do a black shading using the back menu and no LCD attached. When I had the LCD attached it worked fine however.

No LCD - but I just let the camera run with a big "undefined" in the camera's screen and it eventually gave me a calibration successful message. Don't know if it really was, though.

manuals clearly state to do the black shading with either a CF card or a RED Drive attached.

that may be your problem.

The rear LCD has always showed 'undefined' when performing black shading. Plug in the RED LCD for a progress meter.

Yes, its a UI bug that I think crept in with Build 15 that we need to clear up - the Black Shading operation is actually proceeding just fine - if you have any of RED-EVF, RED-LCD or HDMI (DVI) attached, you would see a full status display that is updating.

Thanks, Stuart. Thought I could do the black shading without a monitoring device. Turns out I can - just won't have the right messages on the cam's screen.

And, I did follow the manual (as I stated, above.) I read that sometimes a single CF card may cause a problem when black shading, hence, the "switching out" of cards. But, I never did black shading without a CF card in the slot.
