Hi everyone,

First time posting on here but I have been using this forum for a few years now.
I am working as 1st AC on a local feature. Most of the shooting will be done inside but some of it will be outside. I am worried about black shading when the temp changes. Is there a way to create multiple black presets for different temperatures?

Thanks for the help!

I've been meaning to try to SSD black shade storing feature. My question is, how can you keep your black shade presets present across media format cycles? Do you need to copy them to your DIT station and then mount the SSD as Read/Write after it's been formatted in camera to copy them across?
It's unfortunate that it appears that the DSMCs don't seem to have enough or the right kind of internal storage to keep more than two onboard. Perhaps the Dragon boards addressed this and we'll see onboard blackshade storage in the future.

That's the issue I have, a format erases the ssd black shades. It's a bit of a pain to keep copying / formatting/ ejecting / etc to get them back on the ssd.
If I can format on the PC that would save one step back to the camera.

Maybe that should be a feature request? RED Watchdog could have a 'Format for Camera' option and you could have a folder somewhere where you store your blackshade, look, guide and control map presets and it would give you the option to include them or not as your format the cards.

Andrew, brilliant idea!!!!!

Yes, exactly. Just like how you load a look file exported from RCX or firmware. I think you are incorrect about "it appears that the DSMCs don't seem to have enough or the right kind of internal storage to keep more than two onboard" and I strongly suspect we will see the ability to hold multiple CalMaps in the future.

Meantime - you can use one SSD during a job to hold all your CalMaps - and just insert that SSD when/if you need/want to load a different CalMap.

With respect to suggesting different format media feature(s) - as far as I know, the camera formats the media a specific way to maintain write speed, so prettty sure it's not an option or a good idea to "partially format" an SSD just to keep a CalMap file on it - which you can copy to an SSD at any time anyway.

Personally, I think the BEST feature would be able to hold 4 CalMaps in the camera.
