Black Shading Info?

Hello,

Why should we cover the lens while doing Black Shading? Is it like when we do Balck Balance on video cameras? Kindly, could somebody answer my question would be very helpful. Thank you in advance.

during black shading you are indicating the camera where is the Black point in each pixel.

a black balance in a video camera meassures the color temp using the black instead the white. something that you can´t do in a RedOne.

You should cover the lens (and close the iris down and preferably do the whole operation i dim light) to ensure that it is really black (and not just very, very dark).
