  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Black Eyed Peas "Imma Be/Rock That Body"

Nice costume....

Graeme

Indeed.... How are we meant to appreciate the cinematography when you shoot girls in costumes like that. You make life so hard.

Graeme

The irony of it all was the director and I were trying to be "sensitive" to Fergie and not overly focus on her "assests"... turns out her request in the edit was for more shots of her booty!

Doh!

This must have been really fun to work on. What anamorphics were used?

I see you Christopher!

I dislike when sites do that. Especially with me being from Canada... US sites often don't let us see certain things until later etc... what's the point? That makes us find it through other sources... people WILL find a way to do things... you can't block it lol.

Anyway, I love the video... I can almost tell when shoots are RED now; love the look. I do wonder if the VFX boys used HDR-ball or fisheye-lens photos to recreate the lighting... or if they matched it by hand for the CGI. Most of the robot shots look really good but some of them look like they could be a little bit better in terms of matching lighting (but I think perhaps they were not going for Transformersesque pure realism, but rather a stylization)... anyway it's quite good!!

I see Tony my first AC and the Steadicam Operator, Chris Cunningham... not sure where I am in that reflection!

I'm sure the effects team would have loved more time to refine their work. Unfortunately, they were given about 2 weeks to execute more than 100 effects shots. I wish they had more time too, they are certainly capable of doing amazing work as evidenced in most of the shots in the vid...

Man that's intense. Well they did an amazing job, regardless of that time frame. This reminds me of an article I read a few days ago... pertaining to animators.

The only thing I disagree with that article (as evidenced by a comment of someone from WETA), is that they certainly do make good money... regardless of being worked lol.

Hey gang,

Here's a job I shot recently with 2 standard Mysertium RedOnes, in Anamorphic...

Pretty crazy shoot for 2 effects heavy videos in 3 days total.

Enjoy.

hey Chris

Long time my friend...Hope all is well.I heard you and Joseph pass thru town (Buenos Aires) I asked Facundo (1st AC) to send you my regards. We should get together next time im in LA. That said, I wasnt able to see the
BEP video you posted either...Is there another place that perhaps it may be Posted?

Good stuff Chris . 2 weeks is a short time for the amount of roto neeed for the vfx they were doing. I agree with earlier statement of the lighting not matching on the Robots but again 2 weeks is probably 2 weeks 24hrs a day to get this done.
I can still remember BEP way before Fergi was ever around in the late 90's.
Btw who handled the vfx on this one?

I love how they're making fun of a device that sings for you, yet pretty much the whole song is Autotune. Ugg, I hate Autotune.

But anyway, aside from that AMAZING job. This is a great video.
