Hello,

Just wondering if anyone has used the Red One to shoot black and white material. If so, I'd really appreciate hearing your general thoughts on how it came out.

Also, it'd be great to see some footage if anyone knows of links.

Thanks very much for your time,

We shot a short film, 8 days, that was MOST LIKELY going to finish in B&W.

It very much frustrated the DP that the production wouldn't commit to B&W, that they wanted to maintain it a possiblity, because it ment he couldnt pull out colored filters to play with contrast, which would have given him much more control over the look.

My recommendation is, at the very least, make a custom LUT with sat=0 and some added contrast so you can light for B&W more effectively.

Garbo, a teaser Trailer was shot on RED #19, even so with an extremely low budget and only four small LEDz lights, I was pleased with the effect we got out of it.

You can see it here: http://www.vuze.com/details/BB6IYO3XCT4FCUCV4JF2RA3YXJWMDX7O.html

or just google Garbo Ketch Rossi and I'm sure you'll find other places were it has been posted, in case you can't or don't want to download the Vuze server.

ciao

I like the look of it.. but the ADR kills the piece for me

Thanks Zakaree, glad you like it, and yes the looping wasn't a good part of this piece, do to a miss understanding we had no Boom Boom man, so Blair had to improvise with what He had in his bag.

ciao

I like shooting b/w on the RED, and redcode RAW makes it easy to play with the levels and shadows in post.
