Trevor, I did briefly try it on a late 2013 MBP 15" i7 2.3GHz 16GB Thunderbolt 2GB nVidia 750m laptop.
The BB2S w/ Titan X performed worse over TB2 on the 2013 MBP then the 2011 iMac over TB1 with the same settings/clip...
10-12 fps in Resolve...
but only for about 3 mins until the laptop heated up...
...then it dropped down to 5-8 fps
Popped the bottom panel off,
layed the laptop upside down w/ the lid closed,
pointed a 10" fan at it,
SMCfanControl used to crank the internal fans...
Got it up a bit to 8-10 fps
However, 6K FF buffered clips on the MBP played back smoothly over TB2, whereas the iMac over TB1 stuttered for 6K full debayer (was good at half debayer) playback buffered (or non-buffered).
These results are to be expected, as CPU muscle is needed for the wavelet de-compression;
however, adding the Titan X to the late 2013 w/ MBP 2GB 750M, increased performance by at least 3~5x,
allowed for three nod renders w/ first light, mild grade, FilmConvert AND NeatVideo applied,
and resolve didn't crash once over an hour of use!
Ketch, you may want to wait a bit on the new MBP, there appears to be some QA and bug issues that need sorted:
Considering the issues (several kernel panics a day and random reboots when using TB3) being reported for even maxed out 2016 MBP models...

One may be better served picking up, or sticking with, iMacs w/ i7 or used nMPs then Apple's current "appliance" offering (which has zero self repair or upgrade options after purchase).
nMP can run at least TWO of these btw!
OR
Just switch to windows
