  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Big sales of executed RED ONEs

I can totally see where Jim is coming from with regards to this not being in the spirit of Stage 2. At the same time I hope everyone can see things have changed a lot since Stage 2 orders were taken; the previous poster mentions having had Stage 2 deposits on with RED since April 2010. I'm damned sure that in April 2010 neither RED nor the previous poster could have predicted that it would be September of 2011 before deliveries commenced. Circumstances change. Earthquakes happen. Shit happens.

Everyones plans have been thrown out of kilter by unexpected events; flexibility is called for, and I have a lot of sympathy for people who in good faith intended to keep their RED (and would have done so had EPIC deliveries proceeded as originally hoped), but now find themselves in a position where it makes business sense for them to lease their cameras.

Disclaimer: Stage 2 is not and has never been an option for me so I speak with disinterest; I have no horse in this race.

This morning I have a committed lessee who is ready to wire monies to my account, but after reading this thread, I now have much anxiety regarding the deal. I now fear loosing my spot in line or getting my two other $5000 Epic deposits refunded that Red has held in good faith since April of 2010. The proposal that is sitting on my desk comes to us at a perfect time that the present value of the camera and package will generate a large enough amount that can assist us in purchasing an Epic M. Red has made it clear that the executed camera cannot be sold or leased. This is our lively hood and how we make our living, Red could pull the plug on this and put us out of business. It sounds like our best option is for us to walk away from this deal otherwise we have a great chance of endangering our relationship with Red?

I'd be surprised if it will be anything more than frowned upon due to the numbers involved, but if you're worried why not see if you can switch that reservation over to stage 3 and trade it in? Sounds like stages 2 and 3 won't be far apart, and then youre effectively selling it back to Red for what you paid.
