Well Holloway,
Our camera's were both attached and they stopped recording about the same time, two to three times.

This has happened to me several times, when I use to shoot for NASCAR.
We shot on Varicam's then special shots we had to use the P2 camera.

When you say "attached", do you mean teathered to an AC adapter? Did any of the cameras on batteries stop? This is an interesting phenomena worthy of exploring. I'd like to see some High Db testing done too.

If any battery-run camera shut down, I would assume that the problem was physical/sound based. The metal body of the camera should shield against most emf.
If the cameras were all AC teathered, power spikes are easily determined with a power-waveform monitor.
One of the problems shooting motorsports, paticularly nascar, is the EMF density in these arenas (I've shot INDY cars myself). All the teams use radios. The broadcasters are using fixed and portable microwave and UHF VHF based transmitters...the list goes on and on.
Forget about wireless mics....
And we aren't even talking cell phone users...

I just cant see how a spinning car produces a power spike at a distance. Now if its magnetic and passing though a "copper cable tunnel"...thats another story! I'd like to do some testing, lest my camera turn off next time im shooting next to a plane or other automotive sports.

And have your cameras started to demonstrate any signs of mutation? Super-powers, underwear on the outside, very low-pitched laughter?
