  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Beware Globalmediapro batteries are sometimes late at shipping

GMP has a strange business model. Hard to contact (you actually can't unless you've ordered something) but they are cheap and their products seem good. I ordered 3 x 160WH GMP batteries and charger. They arrived super fast and have worked flawlessly. When they arrived, I thought I had accidentally ordered the wrong ones and left them a message to contact me urgently. They phoned me from New Zealand that evening and were very helpful. They don't seem to do refunds or returns too readily, eg for mistaken orders, from what people have posted here. So yes, be careful, and make sure you are ordering exactly what you want. They are a bit like the automatic drive through I went to yesterday. The machine stuffed up and there was no-one to call, only a robotic computer, so I lost my money. The next day I went back and got a great car wash for $3...

the ones that I have used with AB Gold Mount are AWESOME.

But obviously they have to ship from the other side of the world, and direct customer service is not an option so much.

Matrix twist . . . "Tim" is actually the sales manager at Global who post this red herring OP to elicit complimentary and supportive replies from RED Users thereby raising awareness, creating buzz and selling product without spending a single RMB on the effort.

Nice one.

This title should read:

"BEWARE GLOBALMEDIAPRO-BATTERIES SOMETIMES SHIP A COUPLE DAYS LATER THAN EXPECTED!"

+ 1

Instead of simply dismissing this incident or sluffing it off with sarcasm, if you're considering buying from them, just realize that there's no room for error and you have no recourse for a refund or changing your mind. In the U.S., the normal business practice is a 3-day right or recision.

Thank you for the potential warning.
Low prices have a price. "No room for error" doesn't stop at buying gear.

If this thing seems as a big deal you are in for a ride.

Good to read all these comments. it seems like a lot of people have been using them and its been working fine for the majority. I would imagine buying something from the other side of earth would have its disadvantages, specially with shipping.

Don't really understand reason of saving 500 bucks when you already spends thousands :) Get the best for your RED - don't save penny for a big bucks reward :)
Don't have anything against GMP batteries vendor - they could be probably the best batteries vendor in known universe, but I'm buying batteries from local companies in North America.

At least I have someone to blame in case of my batteries accidentally explode :)))

GET RED BRICKS they FN nice an stay long enough or even go for AB if you have really thick valet :)

P.S. have your ever try to fill up your Ferrari with regular? Your don't have Ferrari? At least you have camera with RED color in the tag :))) So admire it. Power supply is FN important. Everything begins on it.

Why spend thousands of dollars on identical quality products just for a nicer plastic shell? Who says GMP batteries aren't better than RED Bricks or Bebos? I would rather spend $3k on nice glass which has a measurable advantage to spending thousands on no perceivable improvement.

Sorry. Not true. I'm Tim Snider of dejaviewmedia.com and I posted the original thread. Sorry for the original shouting in the title.
