I just opened a ticket with tech support. I post it verbatim below. Am I right in what I'm reading? "A beta is a beta forever"? or am I missing something?
From the website:
"BETA – v5.1.29: BETA firmware is not recommended for use on commercial productions. You will not be able to roll back to earlier firmware revisions than v5.1.6 after installing v5.1.29"
Yet the current release version of Epic is 4.0.18.
That implies 'once a beta, always a beta' - a camera that's had a recent beta put on it can NEVER be put back to the release firmware? At least not until the versions are more closely in sync? If so, that's bad and wrong!
Can a camera which has had a 5.x beta mistakenly applied only be reverted to the 4.x release version at the factory? What charge is made for this service, if it's possible?
Please replay ASAP as I'm prepping cameras for a tricky job… I'll also ask on REDuser!
Thanks
Mike
