  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Beta REDCODE QT Codec v4.1

The QT Codec v4.1 works on FCP with the proxies, but it is still coming out green with Color. What am I doing wrong? Shouldn't Color look at the proxies the same way quicktime does?

Replacing the QT Codec with v4,1 does not automatically display the proxies. You would have to regenerate the proxies by conducting "Make QuickTime" in the supported software with the right settings.

Hey Rob & RED Team,
What's the chances of getting the Build 30 M-X Quicktime Codec up on the Support page, to save our new M-X clients (and us!) searching through the RedUser mire to find it. There's plenty of other Beta stuff on Support so clients take their own chances. Anything is better than new M-X users seeing their QTs in sickly yellow with the older codecs.

Exported new wrappers with Redcine-X b226 --> Quicktimes now look very dark, under exposed....

Any ideas. Can't seem to get the quicktimes looking anywhere near the Redcine-X metadata????

Seing the same thing here... very inconstant look with the proxies from the meta preset... generating new proxies from redcine 226... about 40 IRE darker across the board, like the gamma curve is not working right.

It would be great if red would get the software up to speed before unleashing new hardware. It's constantly behind that curve and it puts the post guys in an unfortunate position. We still have no MX related software on the support page, it's all buried in threads, but the sensor is very much out there and post very much has to deal with it.

The solution for everyone can't be to buy a $5k rocket card and transcode everything for offline, or to stay glued to this forum in hopes we catch wind of a new software build. Im all for change and advancement, but having to rely on buggy work-in-progress software and codecs to support hardware advancements is getting frustrating, as is wading through this forum to find software.

Amen. We work with RED footage only every couple of months and having to rebuild our footage pipeline every time we do so is really making us lean towards shooting HDCAM-SR as much as possible.

You guys need a software download page and some stability badly.

Connect yourself with a specialist or a DIT which can deliver you this needs. A Databench of DITs and there service will help I think... but I know your sadness... so it is still a work in progress, please dont forget what you get... it is a 4k digital negative RAW format... dont know which of the competitors can deliver that quality in that new latitude and look... (MX chipset)
and somebody with a rocket gives you the best quality out of this.... or you have a friend with a clipster..... everything also a question of your workflow... FCP or Avid....

best,
rainer

Redcine-X and Rocketcine-X are up that support MX?

Just now we've put up a complete package for everyone to take a look at here: http://reduser.net/forum/showthread.php?p=615896#post615896

This will go up on the support site listed below later in the week.

We've recently hired (and will hire more) another software engineer to help us out with all of this.

You'll see a lot of improvements coming this year, as you've already seen with certain other workflows.

Right, you do have a software download page. But it's filled with versions of software that no one is using. An out of date software page is, IMHO, worse then none.

If you just went there for instance you would have no idea that there were versions of your quicktime codec and FCP software that support the MX chip. You would also have no idea that RedAlert is dead.

Even in this post you are referencing new versions that you have announced in yet another user group post. Why not just put it on your software download page? Why is it that everytime I need to install software for this camera system i have to comb through the user groups finding bits and pieces? Please. It's a cool camera system, but the post/IO headaches it is causing myself and others are not great.

/my 2 cents
