BeSteady FOUR Thread

...hope everything works well

I've got two bottles prepared. One of Scotch if it all goes well, and one of Spiced Rum that I'll mix with eggnog that I'll down while I'm decorating the gimbal like a Christmas tree if things go not so well.

Really looking forward to the last person in the list getting their working units and those who requested refunds getting them. That'll be a very, very good day for everyone. And hopefully I don't have 3 more kids by then. Until that time, I'll still be active on this thread holding ACR's feet to the fire with my usual sarcastic banter.

Now, if they'd only release that updated owner's manual.

Glad it's finally with you Ryan :)

Watch the videos, they helped me (more than the manual to be honest) and I balanced a smaller camera first, to get the hang of finding the correct cog (easier to move something lighter around whilst working out how it all functions).

Bit sad we didn't get a comedy unboxing video, I was looking forward to that! ;)

Don't worry, there may or may not be an unboxing video but there will definitely be a short mockumentary of the whole experience. It's already pretty much written, I just have to find time now to film it.

Ryan, I hope you will film your Christmas tree with your unit. And thank you for holding our feet nice and cosy as it's cold in Poland now. I have heard that winter is coming ;) I'm a bit scared by your information about mockumentary idea you have :)

Andy is right, please check our vimeo channel with tutorial movies (www.vimeo.com/channels/thebeast). You can find a lot of useful information there.

We are working on updated manual, it should be ready soon. I will post update about that when I will have solid information about release time.

Best
Peter

Hahaha, no need to worry Peter, it'll be all in good fun!

We've got the cold here too right now (-15 Celsius this morning). I still can't feel my face.

Hi Guys,

Important update - autotune and power sliders for large battery, mainly changes for RED Dragon/EPIC brain+lens configs, added FS5 support. This file will become a part of sec.hex firmware in coming weeks, this file should be used as a hotfix. You should use it from now on!

Autotune.bsp file has been sent to all RedUsers that got their units this week.
It should be overwritten in service mode. Old one should be removed, new one should be placed on internal memory. Information about service mode: manual, page 25th.

If anybody would like to get more information about tuning please contact our customer service (support at acr-sys.com).

Best
Peter

To all interested in buying with BeSteady/ACR:

I wanted to share my buying experience with BeSteady, which isn't not a good story. This should serve as caution when thinking about purchasing from this company.

About two years ago I placed my deposit for a BeSteady rig on a REDUSER group buy and then finally canceled my order after a year and a half of waiting. Constantly the company said it would refund my money and then finally the company out right stopped responding to my emails asking for updates on the situation. Piotr was my point of contact, and as you can see he is responsive on REDUSER forums but not to any of my buyer inquiries.

BeSteady is currently not refunding my $5000+ deposit back in either other products or providing me a payment schedule to refund my money. As I am sure many of you are small business owners, you can all understand how hard it is to lose $5000+.

If you are currently in this situation, I am taking legal action against BeSteady, so please PM me if you'd like to hear what steps I am taking against BeSteady, and see if you'd also like to be included on my case. Didn't want to have to do this but I also don't want anyone else in the REDUSER community to be affected by an unethical company like this. The REDUSER forums have always been a positive experience to me, barring this one terrible situation with BeSteady.

Im sure you have a very apprehensive audience here Ryan. Let us know how it goes.
I for one can't wait to see a ray of sunshine and have the final chapter of this book come to a happy close.
Good luck.

I've finally unpacked it tonight. It's sitting on the stand on my living room table and I'm charging the small batteries (came with 2 small and 2 large). I'll get going on testing it tomorrow if I can manage it. For now, a glass of eggnog.

Jonathan, if the rest of us groupbuyers were to looseour units because of the legal action you want to pursue, I will be very pissed at you.
Especially when they, at last ! started shipping.

ACR told many times they couldn't refund the money until they have enough sales. Unfortunatly for us, they need our feeback on the units to get good review and sell units.
We agreed on that several months ago right here : llegal action is not the way to go.

And I am in the same situation as you, it's a lot of money outthere. When all the units are shipped, you should get back at ACR, Piotr, Max.
We need them to focus on the manufacture, QC and shipping, not on legal actions.

So how long are the small batteries suppose to take to charge? I've had one on the charger for a few hours now. It started with all lights (except for 4s - so 1s, 2s, and 3s) lit (just tried with the other small battery and same behaviour). Now 2s is blinking slowly while the status light is still red. Hope this isn't a stick of dynamite waiting to go off. Unplugged that battery and now trying the other just in case.

Mmm - remember I initially had something like this. It was the first time I'd seen/used/charged these Lipo style batteries. Check the connections are in (but don't insert too far, as they're a bitch to get out!) and correct balance lead/amp setting etc. I'm sure you've done all this, but worth checking again.

On how far you put the Lipos in, I've found that they only need to be touching on the internal connectors... initially, I pushed everything together tightly (as we're used to with our normal style kit!), but found that they work just as well 'lightly' plugged/connected.

2 hours on the new battery. Looking at it from one side, the light is red. They other side, is yellow. Weird.

Well, if they're not charging anymore, you could slot them into the Beast and turn it on (maybe don't have a camera on it). The manager software will then give you a report on the batteries - a sure way to tell if they're charged.

So what accessories were we supposed to get with this Group Buy? I've looked back and can't find anything. I don't even have a mount for my larger batteries.

I've got a 2-pin lemo coming out near the camera carriage and trying to figure out how to power the camera, a Paralinx unit, and my Cinegears. Suggestions?

I found this http://teradek.com/products/2-pin-lemo-to-4-pin-lemo-cable-6-inch or https://offhollywoodny.com/store/power-cables/4-pin-to-2-pin-lemo-power-cable/ but not sure if that would work and if it did, I wouldn't be able to power my two accessories with that power. Should I be looking at a power box (this looks sexy: http://mediablackout.net/product/breakerbox/)?
