  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

BeSteady FOUR Thread

I'd rather wait in exchange for reliability. We've come this far.

I would ask for renewed commitment to keeping us informed regularly. It's so much better than when info goes dark. I appreciate the efforts for better communication so far. Thanks.

When will you make the decision?

Additional changes:
- DC input changed to LEMO;
- DC output changed to LEMO;
- DC input may be used also as DC output;
- DC output may be also used as DC input.
Could you use the same Lemo connector used to power the Epic so we can use ours battery plates and belt clip plates?
DC input and output on the same connector is a bit scary...

Hello Jean,

it's feature not bug - you can't make a mistake. The board will detect if you are connecting power or you are drawing power from it.

Best
Peter

Complete agree with Jim. I'm also willing to wait but ACR absolutely has to step up and offer status updates weekly at minimum. Thanks for the update Peter.

Above all else, I need reliability. That is not a "nice to have", but a requirement.

From the initial conversations I had - well before any money was laid down - fulfilling that expectation was promised.

The enhancements that are now being recommended fall within that performance criteria.

Another six plus weeks is not what I was hoping to hear - more opportunities to use this tool will be lost. As a cinematographer, that hurts.

Never-the-less, my vote is to go for making the changes. Let's get the units working as they should out of the box.

Well, having issues with the DC-IN at the moment, so this seems like a good idea!

What about the current Large Lipo's? I presume the small Lipos will still work, but how would we go about using the large batteries?

Also, in terms of the original extra power solutions that were part of our cable pack - how does this affect them? Here's a paste back from page2 of the thread.

Need to ship:
• Custom cables
• RedUser cable pack
• BeSteady to RED Lemo - it will be connected using multi connector that will be on Camera Shelf
• BeSteady Multi-connector (1 to 2, 1 to 4) - with multi DTAP connectors
• Flexible Red Touch LCD cable
• Accessors Type C
• In-and-Out - it's multi connector it will have DC connectors and DTAP connectors.

Overall, I'd like to wave goodbye to the DC-IN as it stands and replace with something more industry standard. Don't know what other gimbals use?

My vote goes toward getting the unit asap. having a lemo VS standard DC doesn't justify 6 more weeks. from an engineering pov you can improve things indefinitely, but at some point you have to deliver an actual product !

and i'm sorry but i don't believe any deadline ACR gives us, this could mean another 6 month delays as far as we know, plus building the missing 80 gimbals the end of the list could be a year away... no thanks.

or i'll be happy to get the unit asap and get an upgrade kit later on, with all the promised cables/accessories

My unit dc in is working fine...no idea on the dc out. I would personally prefer to just get the cables as was originally planned for my unit. Would hate to mess anything up, plus can't do without it. Need it for projects.

Whats the deal on getting the dc out to red Lemo cable??? I really really want that

Piotr - is there any chance those of us interested and wanting the original offer can still get the dc out to lemo cable as originally planned along with the other promised accessories? thanks

I am willing to wait. Those modifications sound important enough.

I also want to mention that i really appreciate this kind of communication. It might be a little late, but i'm glad to see a change here and hope it stays that way.

Hey Peter Maik says it best, and i think most would agree, your continued communication is valued here, thanks.

Now, as for the 6 more weeks, it's better to have a solid working machine in hand. Thanks for the update.

Max, Piotr, please answer my emails. I have sent seven emails since NAB, when you guys promised me a replacement unit since my unit has a hardware issue and has never worked properly... Of course, the replacement unit was never sent and none of my emails or attempts to Skype have been answered. I am now attempting to contact you publicly since you have not responded privately.

I would like to get some respect for all that I have done for your company.

Please answer my questions.

When will I get a replacement unit that works?

Carey,

Sorry to hear about the issues with your unit but, if I were you, I would just send the faulty unit to ACR (BeSteady) instead of waiting to get a replacement unit.
I know it is very frustrated having a gear that is not functioning properly as you mentioned. However, it is even more frustrated if you have not been able to touch the product you have paid in full in 2013 while some others have received the same product for almost a year.

I am sorry if I offend you but as a patient participant of this group buy who is waiting additional six or more weeks, I think I have a right to say so.
