  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

BeSteady FOUR Thread

Is there a good news coming for the BeSteady 4 investors? A really good discount on the grip for example would be a clever idea...

Loic,

you are only partly correct. We have The Beast/FOUR units in production all the time. And in our opinion The Grip will not be a side product - it will work with all gimbals that there are on the market. DJI Ronin is very popular right now, 15 000 units sold worldwide if I'm correct? So we are expecting a huge interest in our product.

We are not sidetracked by this project. It was running for some time now, and we see it as an opportunity to regain our position on the market and to be recognizable again.

I will give you more good news soon.

Best
Peter

Piotr, thanks for getting that straight, i'm not worrying your R&D team get sidetracked by something like the grip, it make sense to continue developing and having a couple of moves ahead.
but get in our boots we have no way of knowing what's up with the beast, at the current state of affair how long will it take for you to get trough the list? (it make no sense making plan with hypothetical revenue from the grip that might help speed up the process)

be straight and honest to us even if it's not what we want to hear?

and Vincent, i agree we should get significant rebate on upcoming accessories like the grip..

Let's start with free and work back from there if necessary....

You all are being far too forgiving.

Very cool looking product Piotr. Glad to see the innovation. Hopefully this gives you guys a good boost.

Cool product. Smart to design it open for all gimbal.

I agree a rebate on accessories would be cool. But guys, we can't ask ACR to collect funds on one hand, and grab it on the other.

This won't ship our units. They need the money, and considering the advanced gimbal they created, they will sell, giving time.

How much $£€ are we talking for The Grip ?

Well, finally had a but of time to play with the Beast - and it was a bit inconclusive. Probably user error (first time with a gimbal) so the videos were useful... took a long time to get balance then the Beast would always end at an odd angle when I turned it on. Was starting to make some progress (better position but lots of judders etc), when the batteries needed a recharge.

So, I went about charging them and then couldn't get one out of the charger (same problem someone had before)... had to use some pliers and I've pulled out one of the four discharge cables (yeah - I know, doh!), but the connection is so tight it crazy. I've been around a long time and these are the most home-brew type of things I've seen, guess it's linked to the RC roots of gimbals.

Anyway, I figure that's a wasted battery now, as, despite the fact that it just seems to have pulled out of the white connection box, I don't really see anyway to get it back in - and it'll probably be dangerous to try.

So, where can I get a replacement (or maybe a new pair) - I can't see anything on the ACR site. I'm UK based, BTW.

Piotr - the Grip/Link is a very interesting product, even for those of us with other stabilizers. Can you be sure to start another thread with this information as it becomes available?

Thanks.

Hello Terry,

thank you for your idea, we will do so. It is very interesting device for all gimbal users in our opinion.

Andy,

please visit our website and watch tutorial movies - they will help you I believe especially if you are new to gimbals world. Reading manual is always good idea btw ;) In case of any serious problems you can contact our support - support@acr-sysc.com

you can try to get those batteries fixed in any hobby shop or electronic repair shop. It's very easy to do if you have proper tools and/or knowledge.

I suggest trying NMAV - http://www.nmav.de - our German based dealer. They should have batteries in stock. We are creating our own web-shop to avoid such problems in the future. It will be ready soon.

Andy, have a look at one of my earlier posts, there are protection covers available for the balance ports of the batteries to prevent pulling out the cable from the connector, I´m on ma mobile right now, so its hard to fid it and link to it here but we talked about that topic here about 3 weeks ago.

Peter - read the manuals and watched the videos... long before I had the unit, and was getting the same odd set up error. But, I'll keep trying. I had some time today to experiment and then, based on what was happening, I'd have been happy or contacted support - :)

Mmm - OK, I'll see if there's anything around here (I'm in the countryside, so lots of farms and not many electrical stores) - LOL

OK - any chance of posting a link? I don't speak German and (via Google translate) can only find ACR Plus small batteries (with no pic) so not sure if this is correct...

Hi Manual - yes, it was your post that made me go carefully in the first place! I charged OK first time, and was using some foam around the connector (as a temp solution), but the pliers I used caught the last of the wires and pulled it out.

I did try and find the cable protectors, but couldn't see any GB links... guess I should have waited.

Anyway, now I need to get some more batteries... grrr.

Well. just seems like it's not my day.

Charged up the large battery, followed instructions implicitly (ie have unit turned off etc) and hooked it up... and nothing. So, charging the second large battery now to see if that makes a difference (but I doubt it).

So, as it stands, I'll need to get the small lipo repaired or source some new ones before I can do any more testing - if the unit's power system is OK, that is. I'm presuming that the two alternate battery systems are independently wired?

Off to file a support ticket (is it best to use email or the on-iste ticket system, I wonder?).

Update: I got it working - and then it died (again). Looks like there's a faulty power unit on the body. Basically I unplugged it and re-plugged a few times (still no power) then turned/twisted it in the socket, then - magically, it cam to life. Then was trying to autotune and the screen flashed and it died. I can't get it going again... so my conclusion is that there's a faulty connector on the main unit.

What a PITA.

OK - 100% faulty connection (I think). If I twist/turn (and wobble) I can sometimes get power (say 1 out of 20 times). Only other thing could be the cable itself, but I can't see that, as it seems to be position/angle/rotation based connection on the power slot.

On a slight tangent, anyone know how to get the unit out of underslung mode? I had it in that mode last night (when testing) and used the small tube lipos - now I'm down one of those (until I get a spare or repair). Issue is simple, if I return the unit to underslung, the power cable moves and the unit dies.... so I'm wondering what alternatives I have.

Only thought would be a full system reset? But the manual warns against this (unless told to do so)... therefore, wondering if anyone can tell me how to get it out of underslung (when it's not actually sitting in underslung anymore).

Andy - very sorry to hear about your issues. I'm charging batteries all day today and will hopefully be able to test tomorrow.

Piotr - Any idea when we will receive our other group buy accessories, especially the one to power the Red Epic?

Also, where can we buy more chargers and batteries from? Is that German site really the only place? Thanks

Andy, same issue here - I'm unable to power the beast from either of the large batteries - no response whatsoever. It seems to turn itself on randomly while the power button is in the OFF position if the small batteries are connected so I have to disconnect them in order to ensure it stays powered off. There's no DC output either from the DC OUT port - sounds like an issue with the DC power circuit to me but waiting for support to get back to me.

That sucks! Hopefully this isn't something majorily wrong. I'm attempting to charge all my batteries before I start testing...

Hi Pavitar. Mmm - have you tried turning/twisting the power pin around a little when it's connected? Mine was initially lifeless, then (after a lot of persistence) I found a position that worked.

In terms of the small batteries, to be honest, I've never left them in - always taken them out/disconnected. But, I've only just started testing, so very early days yet.
