  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

BeSteady FOUR Thread

My money is on the BeSteady pending your review and other information.

And, it is my birthday so looking forward to a good (but impartial) review!!!

Thanks for doing this Carey.

Sorry to keep you waiting guys but I had a technical difficulty today with my camera.

It will be fixed by tomorrow.

Please check back tomorrow. The good news so far is: the wiring appears to be attached more securely. That's all I have for now.

Thanks!

Ha!

Thanks Carey. Appreciate your efforts.

I'm talking 1 more day, not a year.

You can't hold your breath much before it's 2015... :)

Let others stay out of this mess, though.
Keep focus on BS4 and how to make it end well in this thread.

Hope it works now!

Okay, so here are my results for my test today:

I spent 5 hours trying to get it working properly.

I cannot make any definite conclusions since BeSteady is not available to Skype with me being that it is after hours in Poland. I have requested a Skype meeting with Mike and expect to be able to get some help from him tomorrow because at this point I can't be positive if I'm doing something wrong, or if it's the BeSteady.

The trouble I'm having is as follows:

1. When I use "autotune", the camera tilts and rolls, but does not pan... just like before.

2. When "autotune" is complete, and I set the camera to "follow mode", I pick it up and walk around and get intense vibrations when panning, tilting and rolling. When I check the values under the "performance" settings to see what "autotune" has set them at, they read: Tilt: 100% Roll: 100% Pan: 90%

3. I tried manually lowering the pan/roll/tilt strength in the "performance" settings to different values all the way down to 40% on every axis. This does remove some of the vibration, but not completely. It is not silky smooth at any value.

4. The camera does pan when in follow mode, unlike the first time I got the unit, but it vibrates. Before, it would not pan at all in follow mode.

5. When the gimbal is powered off, and it's totally limp, if I manually pan, tilt or roll the camera, I can feel some friction at each motor... I could be wrong, but I 'm pretty sure this was silky smooth when I tested the first unit they sent to me.

So that is the extent of my testing for today. I have to contact BeSteady via Skype tomorrow to find out what is going on.

To be continued...

Oh dear :=(.

Hopefully BS can provide some answers when you contact them. Thanks for the report Carey.

What is the weight of your setup Carey ?
Vibrations are usually sign of difficulties for the motors to move.

I'm sure it's in the announced payload, but maybe the motors are just not strong enough ?

No possible way. This set up is as light as you can make it. Camera, still lens and battery.

They are not answering me on Skype. I don't know if they are on a long Holiday or something.

Can Pitor, Maks or Mike or someone please contact me and help me with this BeSteady.

Honestly, I think the first unit was working better than this one that they've sent to me.

I need support please!

Great, great, great news!

I have my BeSteady working flawlessly!

The problem was that the "autotune" feature doesn't work. It's going to need a firmware upgrade at some point to get it working properly.

So I manually tuned the gimbal, and it works! Smooth as glass!

I have a very light camera set up, and that was the problem. I manually tuned the values to between 15-25% on each axis and it works perfectly! No Vibrations!

Next, I will do some shooting tests.

Hope is alive!

Happy New Year Everyone!
