  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

BeSteady FOUR Thread

Your absolutely right Carey, ship the units owed usASAP I was only suggesting that we should consider after that the units are shipped to us we might need to figure out how would be, maybe the only way to get our units to a complete state. And that may involve paying for cables or maybe even having some other company make the remaining cables.
Sorry I wasn't clear bout that.

Maybe we can get them to provide all the specs for the cables so we have the option to get them sourced. Seems reasonable.

Hello all,

Just wanted to thank the moderators for giving us some breathing room - as well, echo the suggestions that as frustrated as everyone is, we get our minds set for this to take a bit longer to completely be sorted out. Rushing units out the door only caused more issues, and with a company in this position, there is literally very little we - or they - can do to radically change things. The good news is BeSteady is very close to shipping units, they have all the parts needed (other than cables which can come later or worst case, be had a different way) and are at finally being 100% honest and realistic about what it will take to get to the finish line resulting in a "M15-ish" product retailing for 25% less, which we got for far less still.

Personally, I'm turning my attention to other projects I can do something about and look forward to shooting with it after the Chicago snowpocolypse is over.

Courage and patience my friends...

Thank you,

Hello,

about the cables that will be needed:
Traxxas (plug) to double D-Tap (socket)
Traxxas (plug) to quad D-Tap (socket)
D-Tap (plug) to LEMO 2-pin (plug)
RED Touch thin cable (LEMO based)

I have updated the shipping manifest. You can find it here:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/15hiY55R50-GmhxAK6EUSdnILm87GtAJsnSJV2Mi_bLY/edit?usp=sharing

We need to disassemble some already prepared components in order to make necessary modifications that's why it will take us a bit longer than initially anticipated.

Best Regards
Peter

Thanks for the update Peter. Really appreciate you reaching out to us. Best of luck with the upcoming work. Although dissapointed, we're rooting for you guys.

Piotr,

I'm not a BS investor however I have some background with cables. I believe that the guys will need more information on the connectors as well as the pinouts. I would suggest you release the 2-D mechanical drawings that must exist for these cables in order for the greatest chance of them being sourced successfully. For example, you mention a "Lemo" connector however DigiKey offers several pages of different Lemo connectors. It's very hard to source cables or even get them quoted without proper info. I know companies are loathe to release drawings like this however in your circumstances I don't see any other choice.

it's better to have the pinout, but you can read the info from a voltmetern if you have a unit.
Dtap are usually wired the same everywhere.

But a pinout would be great of course. And as Med said, the precise references, there are a lot of lemos 2 pins.

Thanks...

...for the update and the honest words about your tough situation right now. Thats way better than silence. I keep my finger crossed for you guys.
and
...to Gunleik (+ other mods) for keeping this open.

Not much more to say right now. I think we all feel more or less the same way about the whole situation. Hope we all can laugh about it in Jan. ;)

Here some pictures of my cabling for the BeSteady 4:

Great set up Michael.

I echo Mike - has your defective unit been returned to you already? If so, can you comment on its performance?

Also, who did all the mods for you?

Thanks!

The mods where done by www.pure4c.de
The Tilt axis is not performing the way it should and so my BS4 is going back to Poland again :-(

I have to say the shipping schedule doesn't interest me anymore. I'd rather see them get it right and eventually get a useable unit. As long as we get them. I feel like they should work with the first batch users to get them BS4s that they, redusers, think are great. Then proceed.

Definitely.

100% agree about preferring a debugged unit later to a buggy unit sooner. I encourage BeSteady to take whatever time they need to get it right. Ship schedule is not a concern for me at this point.

Agree 100%

Until the BS4 is ready to shoot, debugged and use-able outside BS4 HQ, there's no point in sticking to the shipping schedule... it will, I think, end up costing more, as units will have to be shipped backwards and forwards (potentially), and this will end up being a big expense that BS will have to bear.

Maybe Carey or David can get this message across?
