  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

BeSteady FOUR Thread

Then fire it up and test it!

The FOLLOW mode on pan does not work

Michael, have you tried using the "persuader" on it yet? In Canada it comes in many different forms... 2x4, hammer, truck tire, etc.

Sorry I couldn't help myself, I know.... Not funny!

How can you do a Group Buy and have not jet fired it up??????

Carey, you should not do a group buy without testing a unit before you do the group buy. I do have for example a L'Aigle Exoskeleton here a well! where is yours?

I've just saw the various initials on the google doc sheet.
I'm back from #37 to #44, probably because of the "can't refund yet policy".

Damn, end of november. I think I'll receive the Eagle Exoskeleton before the Besteady which is kinda weird.

Berenger, where did you see an updated google list? Did I miss that?

I don't understand what you mean Michael, I don't have the cables to power the camera (as was agreed to) so I have to rent my battery solution. I have not been sitting around idly, waiting for BeSteady to ship my gimbal, I have many other projects going on. David Ditato is the co-creator of this group buy. He has already fired up his unit. I am doing extensive testing this week. Btw, it's kind of impossible to test a product that doesn't yet exist. That's why I ensure a refund policy. Just like every other product that you buy online.

As a side note, do you care to comment on the L'Aigle Exoskeleton? No, I do not have one as of yet.

Firmware updates are easy with the FOUR and will be published regularly whenever we find a bug or a misbehaving function. Note that this is the first stabiliser with an internal configurator - a complicated new code was written just for it and it will get better over time. The OnBoard Manager is something new for us as well and we are getting used to it from the coding point of view. Remote control protocols had some bugs that are already addressed and the support for RC devices will be enabled with the next build. We are in contact with mr Michael to address his follow pan issue and it should be up and running very soon - it appears to be an unfortunate isolated issue and every other unit should work nicely on pan axis.

Piotr / Mak,

Please do not ship our unit w/o accessories. I don't care if we're last in line, but I'm not going to burn through our refund window with a tool I can't use as intended or that requires a lot of additional time or money to get operational. Every day my hope diminishes on this thing.

Thanks,

As far as I'm concerned, the refund window better not start until we have the required cables that allow us to use the gimbal. Can you please confirm this Piotr/Maks? Thank you.

Michael, I tested mine the day I got it (one week ago) and posted the test video. All 3 axes were working in follow mode.
I'm not sure if I misunderstood your question but no one can test a unit before a GB if it hasn't been manufactured yet.

since i will use the unit not only with Red Camera, i´m fine with the unit without the cables, as long as the gimbal itself is functional.
Thanks for the names in the list, unfortunately i slipped back and have to wait until 27th now :( Maybe cables are ready until then ?
Schedule on accessories would be nice to have.

Manuel

Piotr,

Could you, or someone else from BeSteady, post the main power cable spec (connectors and the pin-outs) here or at BeSteady forum?
I always get backup cables for my equipment (from my steadicam operating habit) and I am going to get (or make) the cable before mine arrives here.

Er... hang on a minute there... not that isolated. Don't forget I have the same issue. I wasn't going to bring it up in this thread to give you a chance to sort it out privately and ensure no-one else had it.

In fact my entire pan axis doesn't work properly. In or out of follow mode. It just moves with the frame mostly but also darts about on its own randomly in roughly 20 degree jumps. Clearly something fundamentally wrong. It's like the feedback is backwards. If you have a fix for Michael, I most likely need that fix too. At least. I'd appreciate some attention.

Shit.

Yeah, sorry about this guys. I thought I had an isolated problem which I was willing to let BeSteady sort out privately. But when Michael said he had pan-axis problems, and Piotr said Michael's was an isolated case, I couldn't stay quiet.
