Hello gents,

Im working on a project that will have a limited release in theatres. Project is shooting on the RED One producing @ 4k.

Knowing that it will have a theatrical release, are there preferred methods of workflow? Hard drive space is not an issue.

Proxy Method and conform later with Clipfinder? I believe this method allows me to go back to 4k

I dont have Clipfinder, but if this is the 'best', i will buy it. I belive this method can conformed to a 4k

ProRes4444 via Log and Transfer window? This will resize to 2k files, and i think I will then be stuck at a 2k file. Im not sure and my concern is that I will not be able to conform back to a 4k.

I have not used RED-Cine before , so i am unfamiliar with the process.

Wrapped R3D via Log and Transfer, from what I have read, this will also allow me to go back to the 4k, which is what the producers want. But while in FCP, it will display in 2k.

I hope this makes sense.

TLDR; What workflows can i use that will let me conform back to 4k RED. Drive space is not an issue.

Thank you.

They producers actually want to use the Log and Transfer Method.

If i want the 4k image for later use in Color, do i need to select the Native option right away during the log and transfer or can I choose a ProRes now, and then go back and conform later by selecting the Native option before sending to color?

Or, do i have to keep it all as R3D Wrapped (native) in order to later have the 4k image since they will have theatrical screening?

Thank you to anyone who can answer my questions !

When you download the Final Cut Studio 3 Installer from the Red Support site you will find a whitepaper in this image... it will help you a lot to read that first...
Clipfinder has a very good conforming tool for Final Cut edited RED projects... to have this software is not a fault at all..

Im actually reading through it now and i have just purchased Clip finder.

Although, im still not sure weather to make Native RED QT or ProRes4444.

I know Native RED keeps the 4k image intact, but if choose a ProRes format say 4444, it resizes it to 2k, can I then go back to a 4k image?

Essentially, I dont know how to get from a low res ingest, like ProRes LT , back to ProRes 4444 or Native RED.

I have not conformed before, so its still unfamiliar to me.

AND, im reading through the White Paper, and i dont see anything about ClipFinder :/
