Best way to store Red Volt Batteries

Hello,
I have 8 x 14.8 Red Volt Batteries. I used them when I travel oversea. But now I prefer to use the Red Bricks and take them wherever I can. But sure, the small batteries can come very handy when I can not take the bricks with me.
My question: which is the safest way to store them?
I used to keep an eye on them and always charge them so all 3 bars a lit (full). But then I read somewhere, the best is to store them with only 1 bar?
Now all my batteries show only one bar.
But after some time even the 1 bar will be gone.
Would it be ok to store them without any power indicator showing?
Shall I keep it that way or charge them full again?
Also I would be curious how to keep the bricks?
So far I always keep them at full charge.

Thank you for any technical advice!

Dorian

hahaha I laughed out loud at the garbage response. They came with my kit and I thought I could get some sort of use out of them and they truly are trash

I still use mine often, mainly just for hot swapping bricks. Most of the indicators on my redvolts don't show their capacity anymore, which is fine by me so long as they'll keep the camera going for 5 seconds while I change out the V mount.

I recently got the CoreSWX hot swap adapter to replace this method, once my redvolts do fully wear out.... The adapter is awesome, but if I need to keep a tight build for some run n gun action, keep the redvolts and a small V mount is still the best.

Dorian,

I assume that these are Lithium Ion batteries so long storage is reasonable between 20% and 80% but ideal long term storage may be around 50%. I charge mine to two bars so there is some room for self discharge. As others have pointed out the Redvolts were too small for the job and had to work too hard to sustain a long life. Mine have crapped out and the LED charge lights have begun to fail as well. I just use them on my Redvolt Expander for hot swapping V Mounts but they are begging to struggle to run the camera for 10 seconds ! Has anyone ever recelled the Redvolts?

Thank you Tom, so far, I had not bad experience. Especially when I was on a trip with the handgrip.

Best place to store the small Redvolts is in the garbage. Don’t mean to be harsh but they are unreliable especially when charging them.

LOL!
I have a dozen and they still work for what I do.
They do become a hassle on set when trying to hot-swap BRICKS.
At times they don't hang even at close to full charge, kinda reboots the camera.
Maybe its something else?

Still holding on to mine till the day I die ;)
