Good day . I am using Firewire 800 connections for copying files to 2 external 1TB Lacie Drives .

My connection looks like this .

Red Station 1 FW800 - to MacBOok Pro
Red Station 2 FW800 - to First External HardDrive
From First External Har Drive FW800 to next External Hard Drive .

I don't like this connection , and speed look slow . What is better way to connect your storages on MacBook Pro

Does it have a PCiexpress Port? I think it should have. Get a PCiexpress card with esata input, and get a SSD with esata, or a 7200rpm HDD with esata. Make sure the esata card has dual ports. Connect the external SSD to one port and the redmag to another. I think the only problem with this is that your expresscard slot should be 3gb/s and not the recent 6gb/s in the newer 17". However, this should provide a faster transfer...

DISCLAIMER- I'm not a computer expert and what I'm writting is based from searching this and other forums. If someone more knowledgeable could shime in maybe they can reassure this route, or give a better suggestion.

Also, This is the workflow I plan to do with my 2009 17" Macbook pro .

Most, if not all, of the Expresscard eSATA adapters have two eSATA ports. Use one to connect to the REDstation. Use the other to connect to the Glyph Triplicator:

Connect your two (or three) destination drives or SSDs to the Triplicator via eSATA (the "out" on the Triplicator has three eSATA connectors)
And in the time it takes to make ONE copy, you can make up to THREE.
Cheers,
Harry

Hello Vigen,

definitely get the pro version of this card as it has two separate channels.

Also be aware, that the lion drivers from sonnet are not recognizing redmag media correctly.
Lion says that the media is not recognizes and offer to INITIALIZE drive - which wipes your redmag.

This is the case of the 2.6.0.0 driver, and the sonnet tempo SATA E4P card, but has also been reported on the Pro version of the express card.
I have to try the 2.7.00 driver that came out recently.

I reported this to sonnet, as did some other redusers. No answer.

There are no issues on snow leopard with the redmags.

In general however the tempo SATA cards seems a bit "dangerous". It managed to shoot down 2 different g-tech drives, and I had to recover the data with disk rescue.
All that happened was a damaged allocation table - repaired in 4 mins.
The drive locked up in mids of operation and on a reboot, it failed to mount.

I think this has to do with the "hot plug" feature of esata on this particular controller chip. I would advise to NOT hot plug esata, but to shutdown the system each time,
and certainly have a disk rescue suite at hand.

I would probably extend the macbook to 3 firewire ports with a card like this:
http://www.sonnettech.com/product/fw800expresscard34.html

and have the 2nd backup drive connected via USB.

Might be a bit faster than your current solution, and less dangerous than the sata one.

I really hope some more thunderbolts drives will come out soon.

Thanks full detail answer .
