Good Morning/Afternoon/Evening All,

Looking into purchasing a quality 17" Production Monitor for both on-set and Color-Critical Post-Production work.

Torn between the Sony PVMA170 & the brand new Small HD 1703-P3...

Anyone had any experience with either of these monitors?

Would love some thoughts and recommendations from you guys/girls!

Best,
Alex

Flanders Scientific CM170 or DM170 depending on the features and pricing you're looking for.

Flanders if you are in that price bracket. You could try the Osee if you are in lower price bracket. The reason for Flanders is the feature set, quality, and the free calibrations.

The Sony BVM-E171 is a lot better for color-critical applications, but it's a lot more money. Good grading displays are not cheap. How do you plan to calibrate the displays?

+1 on Flanders. They're great. I picked up mine used and have loved it. It was available because the big production that owned it before was switching to OLED. So I'm guessing there are still some used ones around. Also, Flanders will re-calibrate for free.

Because of the free calibration Flanders is the best deal if you want a accurate monitor. Any other brand you will have to pay for calibration at least once a year. Not sure if you get free calibration if you buy it used.
