Best price for Quantum LTO3-A

Any recommendations for the best place to buy a Quantum LTO3-A series desktop drive? Prices?

What about the tapes themselves? Any brand that is recommended, and any vendors that offer good prices on these?

Tekserve in NY quoted $6100 or so. I don't know how that compares. If the drive works like they say it will, it should be a heck of a drive. Good folks at Tekserve btw.

I am very happy with my HP Q1539B StorageWorks Ultrium 960 LTO3.
It costs around E1500 in Europe, you can find it on the internet for around $2500.
And for my eightcore Apple Pro I bought an ATTO Dual Channel U320 SCSI PCI-e board for approx. E500.

i just called tekserve, and they quoted me $1,800. i had to tell 3 different people there that there really is an A-series drive, and they said they don't have it on their lists. Who did you talk to in there postoffice?

Talk to Rob at TekServe NY. He's the go to guy for this. I'm going to order mine tomorrow AM from him. They have a very helpful whitepaper about using it with FCP/Apple workflow. A helluva unit. Get the Gig E unit.
