Hi,

I am going to buy a decent tripod system soon. I am looking to buy probably a Miller 55 fluid head.

Are there any good suppliers in Sydney and Melbourne to talk to?

Cheers

Highly recommend Lemac Film & Digital (http://lemac.com.au), they have offices in Sydney (ask for Scott) & Melbourne.

Tell them Brad Wilson referred you (maybe they'll give you the ex-employee referral discount :)

All the best!

We've got 2 Arrow 55s and they're great, although we're maxing them out with Cooke MkII 25-250mm zooms, drives and dual-batteries. Got them from John Barry--but Brad's suggestion seems a better lead.

Yes I have done massive research on the subject, I can assure you. It seems funny really just how obsessive this film making caper is.

The Miller has come out in front for me on several grounds after I considered the OConnor, Sacthler offerings.

Cheers

I bought the Ronford Atlas from Lemac. John Bowring was very helpful in setting up their Red One and offered O'Conner and Miller for comparison.

Otherwise, there is also eBay....

Probably the best place to buy tripods in Syd/Melb is your computer from this guy....Dave

Thanks for all the suggestions. Custom Supply has been mentioned a few times to me as excellent. B & H with added shipping is often significantly cheaper than buying in Australia if you are prepared to take the warranty risks.

Hi Rob,

I also have bought from BJ at Custom Supply several times and it's been great. Also, with the exchange rate around 93¢, the savings are even bigger.

I bought some Kinos from BJ and they were $300 less than B&H. Also got my OConnor head and sticks from him. Great deal.

BJ has great pricing and service, a good idea to do insist on a courier like FEDEX or UPS though. No doubt you'll also be doing price comparisons factoring in GST and shipping for BJ's prices. I did that for one lot of gear with exchange ratae at 90c and the comparison favoured BJ. A few months later the dollar dropped to 80c and I could get better deal (with warranty) from videoguys.com.au . They are based in Melbourne, but I collected tripod from Miller office in Sydney.

Miller tripods are based and manufactured in Sydney so in this rare case I doubt they would be cheaper to buy overseas! I believe you can buy direct from miller at there office in artarmon. They have a showroom there at least an I have bought spare parts from them direct.

Hi Tony I bought a new Miller Compass 15 from the 2nd production run last August. It was demonstrated at Miller in Artarmon but you have to buy through a dealer .. Scott at Lemac in this case.
Cheers.

Picked up our Miller Arrow 55 head, legs and case direct from Miller in Sydney.

If you buy directly from Miller they will Charge you the RRP and will not discount as that would undercut their dealers. Will will always be able to get a dealer to move on price.
