Hello All

Recently we've just completed our first batch of graduation films shot on the RED. We've had our fair share of good and bad but on balance mostly good. As these were the first films any of us produced with the camera we chose to treat look as "burnt in" ie no grading within the red apps.

I'm now however wondering what the best options are to create a best light export to give us the most gradable image for use in Avid Symphony.

I've had a look around the fourms but I'm still struggling to understand what colour space gives us the best latitude for HD finishing in the Avid.

Many Thanks

G.

Try:
Color Space: REDspace
Output LUT/Gamma Space: REC709

I'll give it a go and see what we get.

What is it that this particular combination of Colour Space and Gamma Curve achives?

Once again Michael, Thanks

G.

You can try other color spaces, but the output LUT/Gamma space should be REC709 since that is the color space of HD. Use RED Alert to get the look you want for the sources with REC709 as your output LUT and it will give you the maximum source color it can mapped into REC709.
