Hey guys and gals. I just got a Scarlet MX and had a question about best practices for filtering IR. I already own a Hoya IR cut and a Tiffen T1. Question is do I need to get a Hot Mirror or will the Hoya be good? The Hoya does seem to be reflecting IR, not absorbing/filtering like the T1 and I'd assume that's better.

Sorry if if this has been answered; I did search and no one seems to be talking about how the Hoya compares specifically.

Thanks!

It's been a while since I've used the MX sensor, but I remember that IR contamination was strong after ND0.9. So having a good IRND like Firecrest, TrueND, Nisi would avoid some nasty ir pollution. I don't have experience with the Hoya, but was told that they were good.

And I remember seeing some post here about IR filtration on the MX sensor, there might be more info on those.

Yeah I was shooting a lot of Blackmagic and EX3, so that's why I have the T1 and Hoya. The Hoya is really great on BMDs cameras and I just left it on all the time on the Ursa Mini even without ND. I'm glad to hear that you were told that it's good on Red (I haven't had time to test yet).

I did check those other threads out and no mention of anyone actually testing with Hoya (that I can find), and now most folks posting here seem to have moved on to Dragon and don't care about MX haha.
