I need some gear rings for my 3 nikon zooms asap. Anyone have suggestions?

THANKS! :)

anyone? Cinevate, zacuto, redrock, etc?

Those work if you are in a pinch and cost is an issue, and also the aforementioned are removable, which is good if you tend to rent or borrow Nikons alot.

Otherwise spend the extra coin for custom fitted gear rings. Duclos Lenses, RP Lens, or JBK Cine Quip is a good starting point.

Thanks Mike. I had asked both Duclos and RP, and the quote they gave me was in the thousands for the 3 lenses. Is it really worth the cost difference?

And if anyone has specific experience compasring different rings, please let me know as well. I'm hoping to order today.

THANKS! :)

They quoted you for a full service, rings, step up and declick aperture I'd say.
Or possibly they quoted you including the lenses.

No way. I've got the Duclos rings on my lenses - they are fantastic - and cost less than $100/ea. you can add 80mm fronts and caps for another $100. (or go get yourself 77mm step up rings which are cheaper and will sit nicely with a 80mm bellows)

Love my Duclos rings. Double check the price with them. Some misunderstanding. I have an Optitek Nikon mount so there was no need to "declick" any of my 16 Nikon lenses.

I got mine from www.jbkcinequipt.com
There are aluminum with set screws.
You send him the diameter of the focus ring.
I have had 12 made.
For 2 of the lenses the focus had a smaller diameter than the front or back so he added a delrin spacer.
I would get a digital caliper to measure the diameter. You can get them a amazon.com for under $20.
