What's the best follow focus solution for cinelenses (own a RED 18-50) in a range price of 2k$?

What you guys think about...zacuto (1.6K) or arri MMF-1 with adapter (2k)
Are there any other valid and affordable solutions?

TY

The link you provide, says "...follow focus unit optimized for use with still (SLR) 35mm lenses. Designed to be used with standard 15mm rod support "

So how easy is it to adapt to use with the Red 19mm rods and a Red cine lens?

And which of their "packages" fits the Red lens?
microFollowFocus - Video Camera Bundle $895
microFollowFocus Indie Bundle $675
microFollowFocus Complete Package $825

I think I read somewhere that they are making a 19mm version of their follow focus targeted at Red users. Their gear on the follow focus is the standard pitch for cine lenses.

Drop the cash on an Arri FF4 guys, buy once cry once, otherwise the Arri MFF1 is your under 2k choice hands down.

My mother used to tell me,buy cheap, buy twice, and I still haven't learned my lesson.
I bought the red rock FF,it's OK, but not great, you need the universal mount and 15mm rod adapter with some short 15mm rods to make it work on the Red.
I think you could also use the adapter Abel sell for the Arri MFF1.It's a cumbersome and not very elegant solution.
I've since used the Arri FF4,and as Evin says,it really is the business, expensive but well worth the money, you'll still be using it when your Red's dead and gone.
I think FF's are one thing you shouldn't be cheap on,I hope I've learned my lesson this time, the FF4 is probably going to be my next purchase.
I would be interested if anyone has had some hands on experience with the MFF1 and could post their views,
it's certainly a lot cheaper than the FF4

Tom.

Again, why buy a sub-standard 2k FF unit, when for 4k you can have the industry standard (Arri FF-4)? In addition to getting better gear that will last longer, you will also just look and feel more professional for DPs that you're working with.

To answer your question, the main difference is just going to be quality, durability... a lot of little things.

In the grand scheme of a 50-70k camera package, 2k more is not a lot to pay for the right gear.

RANT........

Why should a small thing with a couple gears (FF4) cost more than a Red Scarlett?

I have never understood why FF and Matteboxes are so expensive.

Are they really that much more complicated to make than a Red Drive or top of the line Nikon zoom lens?

Matteboxes, FF, and tripods are sold at bend over and get RAPED prices. There is no way that a good tripod head is more complicated than a transmission on a car, yet you can buy an entire care for less.

Some people in production get paid percents from total costs.

More expensive equipment the use more money they get.

The Arri MMF-1 looks like the best deal!

CMOTION is the king of all lens and camera control systems.

Also have got Technical Achievement Award, rewarded from the Academy of Motion Pictures an Sciences in 2007.

Complete system would cost you about USD 63.000 :) :) :) .

Absolute precise lens control of new and even old lenses.

Made in Austria.

You might get lucky and find a nice cheap used Chrosziel Studio Follow focus. They are great. I own one. $3500 new though.

prices for video/film related accessories are off the charts. I don't care about all the waffle involving precise machining and all that stuff its still not worth the price. I think some people prefer it stays expensive so the peasants don't get access. people are always asking for things to be more expensive on here oh but not so expensive that they can't get them. they don't want to pay sony prices but they don't want the rest of us to afford them either. I wished people relied more on their talent than their ability to access pricey tools

I applaud what redrock are doing. it only takes one company to put the time in and set reasonable prices as RED has done.
