Best Film of the Year

Ummm!!! I would have to say that my honest favourite of the year was District 9. I really enjoyed Moon, in the sense that if I saw a film like that every week I would be most satisfied. Avatar, technically was breathtaking (pity about the story).

Can't get onboard with everyone about Star Trek i'm afraid. The story was FAR too contrived. The narrative was painting by numbers to introduce all the characters. It was reminscent of the first X-Men. - way too many lens flares too.

Antichrist was typical Von Trier - Apathy waiting at the door. It had moments of brilliance with some underdeveloped story threads...overall was brilliant.

The White Ribbon was first rate in every way and very typical of Haneke.

Men who stare at goats was almost brilliant eventhough the humour was consistently mis-timed.

Broken Embraces was beautiful and typical of Almodovar.

Imaginarium of Dr Parnassus did what films like that should. It took me on a spectacular journey and I loved it for that. (Eventhough there was one shot that was absolutely pointless and broke it a little for me) --- Perfect casting for Tom Waits though.

Inglourious Basterds was a great film to watch even if Tarantino is surrounded by too many yes men to really make a sensational film.

Mesrine deserves as mention as does Harry Brown.

@LIAM as long as you had nothing to do with Mr Blobby your relationship to the Cowell is all forgivable...mans gotta eat ;)

No in depth review here of why but heres my answer(s)

Star Trek: Just what we needed it was great, best movie since TDK came out

District 9: As I look back I always over look D9, but it was a blast, the little alien made the movie.

My Blood Valentine: Best horror I've seen in a while, it's refreshing not to see a saw type horror film. Even more so when you don't know who the bad guy is going into it. It was excellent and mostly on RED in 3D.

Transformers-ROTF: Sorry just tons of fun, really enjoyed the movie regardless of its real world issues. Movie was a blast.

Almost forgot....jeez....

Fast & Furious: Was up there top natch felt classic and really enjoyed it.

Hey Tim, I can't claim Mr Blobby, but I do have plenty of other sins in my music video closet. Indeed, I can't watch VH1 with my kids just in case one of my horrors from the past pops up:D

and Bronson, though not exactly as stellar as I had hoped, had some great moments.

Vindicated. To be honest though I don't think I can actually look at anything i have created yet without embarrassement. I long for the day i can hold something up with pride.

Thank you. Now I need a hernia operation from LMAO!

Paybacks a bitch...or is it a cage fighter...

...served!!

Sugar was my favorite film this year. It defies convention, much like their previous film, Half Nelson. I love the story that is told, and appreciate their originality in telling it without resorting to sports cliches. Narrative filmmaking seems to be a dying breed in the world of popular cinema. Big, loud, and dumb is more popular than ever.

I am also really looking forward to seeing The White Ribbon.
