  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Best (fast) software for 1080p to 2k upconversion

I'm working on a project for which we plan to mix 2k (2048x1152) footage with 1080p footage (from a very inexpensive b camera). The b cam is very sharp, and we will use an external recorder to get prores 4:2:2 hq footage off it. But the 1080p to 2k upconvert makes me very uncomfortable, particularly since we'll likely then crop the 2k master for the 1080p master!

Is there any good footage for this or should I just run everything through Compressor? It seems to have a pretty decent algorithm. Just wondering if there's a better way or some alternative. Thanks!
 
Davinci's re-size is better I reckon (and free), but the best I've tried is EDIUS using the Lanczos 3 high quality algorithm. If your cam is sharp, I wouldn't be worried about it!
