Hi all,

What are the best settings for export to prores from an 8K helium R3d file?

My exported files don't look nearly as sharp and crisp as they do in RCx?
Am I doing something wrong???

Curtis

Double check that you are exporting at full debayer. It sounds like you may be exporting at half or quarter.

Oh dang, .. yes of course! I was at 1/2

Thanks Marcus.

Edit; well tried it and didn't really help much, seems like the saturation and contrast aren't as good.
I'm 8k at 1/2 view in rcx exporting to prores 422 4k. I would expect to loose some in this conversion but
I feel like I'm missing something.

Post an R3D frame so we can check it out but let me take a stab at it.

When you say the saturation and contrast are not as good what do you mean? Do you mean that when you look at the clip in QuickTime the saturation and contrast are off? If that is the case, it seems like you've run into the very well documented QuickTime gamma shift bug. Do a quick google search for those terms and you'll see hundreds of hits about what you can do about it.
