  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Best DSLR to use as Director's Finder?

I guess Hamlet has a point... you could simply NOT convert it and simply mask it properly. The X0D have interchangeable groundglasses, so that should be no problem. Then you just have to shoot alignment and framing charts to figure out your matte and cropping pattern.

Still, a PL conversion would be more versatile.

Does anyone have experience with the Olympus Pen F conversion of the DoP Shop? Since it is a real half frame camera I must have less problems with the protruding back elements of wider PL lenses due to the smaller sized mirror. The Pen F had a great advantage for sure : if ever you did something less usual like jamming the mirror up and sticking a lens in... it had no LCD to bitch about it and was completely manual and mechanical.

My 10D keeps telling me my Pentax glass' the devil.

The pleasure of driving stick I guess...

EDIT : To Mr. Prevette : Yaaarrrr!

When you factor in the extra 8mm of depth allowed by the adapter, the smaller mirror and the same internal diameter of the EF and PL mounts, it seems that it should work. But as soon as Birger ships out my EF mount, I'm going to have Doug Underdahl make me an EF to PL adapter, so we'll see what happens. It will almost certainly work on the Red, as it will just position a PL mount lens where it would normally sit in the regular PL mount. Whether the dSLR mirror will get in the way...we'll see.

PS. Obviously, the best idea is for Jim to enter the DSLR world as well and built a camera with the Mysterium sensor itself in it. Then we will have the best still camera to compliment RED. What do you say Jim?

Who knows? Maybe Scarlet will be able to take pictures too.:shiftyph34r:

I've used a 20D before, but just lined up the zoom lens to a chart and matched to the primes on the cine camera, remarking the Canon zoom to the new lens sizes. That worked fine. Just a bit of time and no engineering needed. Also no having to open the lens case to swap lenses.

Birger mount EOS Canon lenses.... Canon DSLR Hey Mon no problem!!! Pl is dead Red is Sigma!!!

I say test some top of the line Eos lenses against Cooke S4 etc.

save your cash get a used canon 300d same chip size! About 250$ or less
