Hi,

I've decided to pick up some 8' and 4' dolly track sections, and need some guidance on selection.

I've "ridden" many of the manufactures products, specifically Norms, Matthews, and American Grip.

The problem is that I'll bet in most cases the "bumbs" or bends I've run across are rental abuse, and so I'm really not sure which one to go with.

I'm leaning toward the stainless from Matthews, mainly because it's stainless.

I'd welcome input.

thanks in advance,

Steve

I wish you werent based in USA, cause we do this track, aluminum, that is very rigid yet light weigh, and very nice, I will be using this track on the new Moco system as well.
But I guess it will be expensive to ship so .

Constantine, what is the cost of the track and accessories? What lengths are the tracks?

We make any length, 0.5 meter to 2 meter and if someone requires more its a yes.
They are height adjustable as a standard and can also be made to any width required fixed or adjustable as well.
Pm me for prices please.
Thank you

I don't know if they're still sold, but we also rent Filmair round tracks where I work. They're really nice! (Probably because they're not often rented actually...)

Constantine, I am liking very much. What are the wheel system you have picured? Something of your design?

Hello. The track wheels you are seeing are from an manual dolly that a friend of mine is making and manufacture. . My previous design track wheels are way different in design.
I have now my custom wheels made to my specs and the Moco system as well.
I am not really making manual dollies but if you are interested in one my friend Byron is manufacturing some mind blowing dolly systems that you will really like.
If you are interested I can bring in some photos of all the goods he is making.
Iam more into Moco for this and my system is completely designed from scratch.
But we share the same tracks.Very good and solid.

That looks like a Exceptionally well put together system. I can see by the quality that it is not something I can justify buying at the moment, but I will be log it for the future. I've made a few in the past and none have really been fantastic, just adequate. My last attempt was using parts from a motorised go-cart. but its always the tracks and wheels to fit, that are a problem.

Are you planning on marketing your Moco rig Contantine in the future? There is a few people having a go at it but no-one is sub £10K (or even slightly close).

Aluminum ... really?

I get the light weight advantage, but it's not that much of an advantage if we are already schlepping a dolly, centipede, sticks or god help us a Fischer.

My experiences with extruded aluminum lead me to think that this stuff would be easy to ding and dent.

The odd scratch isn't a big problem, I carry a small file on the truck for T-Jib repairs, but it surprises me that aluminum would be prefered to stainless.

Thanks for the input, it's not what I expected, and that's the great thing about tapping the knowledge base of the community.

All the best,

Steve

it very much depends on how people use the track. I have seen both cases being abused.
and I have seen people taking care of it as they should.
it can take any weight, and it comes with protection clothes so you can carry it safely.
it has many nice features and adjust ability..

Tim there are a lot of systems out there some are cheap some are expensive.
With the Moco I have decided to go all the way as I had to add many features.
After I finish with it then I will be making 2 o 3 different choices for the remote head. .
The dolly will be same.
I will not write any more until is done.
I also plan on doing some motorrized sliders for Moco and time laps , coupled with REMOTE HEAD,but its not going to be something at the 700-1000 range
I know people keep asking for dead cheap prices but that just isnt possible sometimes.
