I'm having a lot of EPIC files showing up as offline when I do a Finder copy from my RedMags to hard drives. I want to get an app that can help me double check that the corruption is not occurring in my transfer. I've heard of ShotPut Pro, but what other good options are out there for this kind of thing.

Thanks,
Skip

Shotput Pro is solid and seems to be near the top of the list. It has plenty of options, is snappy, creates good log files. The Imagine Products team is dedicated, know what they're doing (they went so far as to implement optimized code to avoid card readers from overheating when being pushed too heavily).

Double Data is also well known - use to be R3D manager.

YoYottaID is another piece of software that has the same general features.

I've never used anything other than R3D data manager and doubledata and they are both tops.

R3D Data Manager is currently refusing to provide registration numbers to customers - I received an email saying "it's not possible" to provide me with the registration number I bought.

That were great with me on the transition to doubledata, I think it was some amazing low upgrade price.

at some point R3D datamanager wont work with osx (but it still does) as it is EOL and no longer being developed, but its replacement is vy solid.

i think they were more than fair with their upgrade pricing when they switched.

I just switched over to Shotput Pro newest version and did a 3 week job and never had a single issue with it. transferring 500gb a day-ish to 2 drives and was fast and breezy. The best feature is the extensive logs it generates. when the transfer errored out i was able to quickly find the clip(s) that had errors and transfer them separately without having to re-transfer the whole mag again.

Double data or Shotput pro. its said Double data has more robust sum check but Shotput pro can handle other formats as well as Red.

md5 is the usually standard for checksum. there are more in depth ones but not sure how one programs md5 can be more in depth than another programs. it's all the same protocol. just a matter of how it threads doing the md5 giving you the better speeds. i'm leaning on shotput more these days, it pretty much does a 1:1 transfer/md5. takes 5 minutes to copy a mag, will take just a little over 5 min to md5. that's one of the fastest md5''s i've seen on the market.

Im waking up this old thread as this is thread is so old. What program do you recomend using 2016. I like it to be simple and be able to copy to two folder at the same time. I will not be a "power user" but I think windows will run me ower one of these days.
Thanks!

i like silverstack. it's a lot more comprehensive and easier to organize.
Also the reports and metadata is better

I use ShotPut Pro (which just came out with a new update which is awesome) coupled with FoolCat for some reports, or Silverstack (which does its own comprehensive reports) depending on what I'm working on. I highly recommend either option but if you want to review before copying Silverstack is definitely superior.

I am of course Biased, but the people using GAMP are pretty happy, and we have a few DSCM 2.0 specific features available now.

Several feature films and multi-season TV shows we support directly using it.
The ability to do finish the logging inside the app, is also pretty hot with those we work close with.

And it it is a lot faster at the ingest tasks than other apps we have tested it against.
Still just OSX for now.

Hit me with a mail or PM to get a month free testing.

I have a crush on Red Giant's Offload right now.

Davinci Resolve

Davinci Resolve

Might not have tons of bells and whistles but Davinci Resolve has a built in checksum. It is called the clone tool. Been using that a fair bit and seems to do a good job, or at least never had any issues. Can transfer to two locations at once as well. Definitely slower then just transferring across though.

Take a look at LABO GAMP.

It is the fastest and it is all I use now.

Plus it is a great way to support REDUSER Gunleik Groven.

Silverstack is my favorite by far. A little expensive but you can rent a license for a month or a little more depending on your project.
Md5 checksum, xxhash comes in two flavor as well.

Great for long shoots, metadata entry and the reports it generates are by far the best out there.

If you already use Adobe CC, Prelude includes a MD5 checksum on ingest. Has always worked flawlessly for me.
