  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

BEST BATTERIES

Seems a real pain to get these in the UK!

Ben, did you speak with Jerry from Dynacore China? Lesie1976@dynacore-china.com ? It's pretty straight forward to order, I would order in small quantities (1-2 batteries), so not to get into too much trouble with customs.

In fact, I was at major retailer in London a few weeks ago with my Dynacore mini's and they flipped out when they saw the battery..I tried to convince them to import it, because it will really be the best solution for me :-) another option is to look around Europe for some retailers who sale them? I saw some when googling.

PAG Batteries ? I have ordered two 90 (just 0,5Kg to use on shoulder or on a gimbal) and two 150.

Not received yet... but you can have charge in the lcd/UVF, you can put them in series to have more power and you can charge them on a Sony's charger.

I can't wait to receive them !

Hi Ben,

Even in Britain? I ordered them and they are less expensive than the Anton Bauer Cine. And I find the concept very clever! Even if they don't have D-tap.

If you looking for a cheap battery, you can buy GlobalMediaPro Batteries, they are light, with a d-tap but I don't think you can have the % in the lcd. But beware, I have one GB Battery but not Red and it isn't recognized by my WC V-Mount plate.

I also have some Sony PLV-95 that have 7 years old and they still work... you can find them for a great price (less expensive than the GB for Red) but again no % in the LCD and no D-tap.

yep I've used GMP before. Terrible service when they sent me the wrong batt.

To be honest for super cheap batteries I have had years of success with the Rolux V Mounts on ebay.

The Pags are £446 for a 95Wh battery.

The Antons are £492 for 150Wh battery

GMP are £409 for a 230Wh battery

Rolux 95Wh are about £100 each :)

I do like the idea of the Dynacore Minis or Anton Cines for their form factor though.

I usually favor light and small equipment for the stuff I shoot and I've been using PAGlink 95Wh batteries since their release and they have been great! (My Dionic HCs haven't been used since I bought PAGs)
Just ordered a couple of the new PAGlink 150Wh and I think they will be a great addition due to their power, size and weight. (It's probably the smallest 150Wh battery on the market)

Pags 150Wh are - 133 x 84 x 50mm / 0.77kg
Dynacore 155Whs are - 127 x 90 x 52 mm / 0.8KG

Very close :)

How long are you getting out of a 95Wh battery?

I haven't exactly timed the runtime but they're pretty good for a 95Wh. It seems like the Epic-W draws more power than the Epic Dragon because after I upgraded I got a bit shorter runtimes. On the Epic-W, PAGs display remaining percentage instead of voltage on the LCD. You also have a small display on the top of the battery that shows percentage or runtime.

If you're running out of juice, just link a fresh battery and keep on rolling.

Another great thing with the PAGlink system is that you can stack batteries when charging.

What is the power requirements for a Red One MX setup? Just the camera and 5" monitor with SSD module. Is there a minimum spec on v-lock batteries?

Specifically the Ah spec? (For example Red Bricks are 10.4 Ah)

I plugged in a v-lock that was 5.2 Ah and it boots fine but as soon as I plug in the monitor the camera turns off on its own. I'm assuming it is some sort of power capacity issue?

I just got the 95Wh Dynacore Mini - on my Epic-W (8K FF, redcode 12:1, 30fps) and I got about 70mins constant recording+15mins idle time out of it before it died.

Im with Robert on the PAG batts.
They are kind of spendy, but Ive been using PAG's for over a year now and they are a blessing. Im using the PL96e's and just got 2 of the L90 slims for gimbal use and that was the right choice also. I also just got a couple weeks ago their 150wh and with a Weapon, 7" Super bright SmallHD and a Letro wireless I was able to get 1hour 45 mins from the 150's. To be able to stack when in the middle of something and not have to power down is invaluable (and they always work when you stack them...idx) along with using a 2 spot charger to be able to charge 8 batteries and not have to do the midnight battery shuffle is great. They also have a small charger that is about the size of a phone charger that you can stack 4 batt's on to charge. Obviously it will take a while but if you got off the plane and they lost your case with the support in it then you at least have something to charge with.
One last thing then Ill let it go.
You can press the button on the back of the PAG batt when the camera and everything else is up and and running, and it will give you a reading of how long it will last under that load. I know a lot of batts say 100% or 50% or what ever but when under load is what you need to know. Thats like saying I have a half tank of gas but not knowing how hard the motor is running.
