Best 4K TVs Out There

I'm planning on buying my dad a new TV as a fathers'day/birthday gift.

What do you guys suggest are the better 4K TVs out there? I've heard great things about the new LG Oled TVs though obviously they are among the most expensive ones at the moment. Is Oled worth it yet? (since I'm guessing LED might work better for HDR at the moment)

Any other suggestions? Is there something in the horizon worth waiting for?

Most consumer TV's look terrible out of the box. You need to turn off the processing , sharpness,... adjust color balance,...
I matched my TV as close as possible to my Flanders monitor and it looks good now.

Might take a look at the Vizio P series as well...uphgradeable to HR10 and can cast DolbyVision HDR Marco Polo just fine

Thank you very much

After testing out few units, I went for the Vizio P65-C1.

The Dolby Vision & HDR where two of the main factors of this choice... Great TV, different form Smart TV where it is a Smart Cast TV, but it's coll to use the Android base tablet to choose and then "CAST" your choices.

Marco Polo HDR is at standing example of great Cinematography and HDR... Love the show too... :)

Note on Customer Service: OUTSTANDING!

I had an issue with it, and started a Chat to which an email followed the same day and a phone call form a Vizio Support Team manager the following day... With "Replacement" thru the warranty it means that if anything goes wrong with it and can't be fixed via upgrade or resetting they'll send some one over with a brand new unit to replace yours, this was an other deciding factor of choosing Vizio vs. the other tested.

The top of the line LG OLED HDR with 100% DCI should give great viewing going into the future as a consumer thing. Rec2020 probably won't matter too much to your dad. Also the THX certified Panasonic OLED. It maybe more existing film release accurate except the color gamut is slightly smaller I think, but that dies not matter so much.

While odd for me to agree with Wayne, the newest 4K OLED screens from LG (2016 models) that support HDR are the best consumer grade product I've seen yet. Just not the least expensive option.

That's because my standard is sense, however high level it is. :)
