These are more expensive, but they are awesome with Red One, havent used them on Epic, but I imagine they'd be great as well:

They can be double stacked, and 2 fully charged batteries is running our Red Ones with Preston wireless focus MDR, Red EVF, Red Pro 7", Panasonic 7.9", and Micorforce controller all off the 2 batteries for 1.5 hours. The quad charger is also simultaneous, so the batteries charge faster than you can use them up. It's really a great system, and they are the perfect size to fly with.

I have 9 of the Swit 90/95 V-Locks and never been disappointed. The are under the restriction size. I have 5 of the Red chipped and 4 of their generic/non chipped. I run them on the Swt hotswap so 1 chipped works great with one generic.

BE WARNED!!!!!!!!!!!!

I bought some new batteries for our EPIC and not all batteries from third parties will boot the EPIC up! It stalls on the macbeth chart. We are working through batteries which do, so buy some you know already work. It was two different types of GMP ones that didn't work by the way.

As a side note, RED offer no support or offer any information on why this is. I lodged a ticket with quick responses but as soon as they found out they were third party i was told there is no support and that's it. EVEN though they sell an XLR power cable to use ANY third party power source that isn't RED made...a bit of an odd one. So no tech support and usual warranty issues if something goes wrong.

Just be warned.

Great...! Thanks guys for your suggestions.

I am of two mind about buying v mounts under 100 now. In the short term I will be mobile around the globe, but I am wondering whether red is still planning on releasing the higher voltage version of the red volts. Werent some 80-90 watt redvolts planned at some point? Or am I simply losing it??

Ciao from Tokyo

Thanks for this! I will go with what people have tried then. Very worrisome...

@Josh:

I imagine what you're proposing would work, but it's not very efficient because you convert power into heat both on the conversion from DC to AC in the power source and the conversion back to DC with the RED power adapter.

I directly ordered both brand battery " Swit 86Wh+86Wh, Air Flight Safe (A+B) Battery & Ansso 190wh Battery,

Yeah but, the Buff 120v is super clean and the last thing touching the RED is a RED product for warranty concerns. 3rd party batteries powering a RED directly are a concern to me since spikes and other electrical pooh can damage the cam

+1 for Swit 80+80Wh, i have 8 of them in use since mid 2008 and only one seems to die now slowly.
Since i´ve two cameras now I´ll stock up on batteries and will probably go for some 140Wh LiMg Batteries from Bebob.
bebo is just arrond the corner here, otherwise i´d go for Swit again.

beware of cheap batteries. all batteries have a limited life and a limited number of charging cycles. we tested a lot in our rental busines, at all we have around 200 v mount batteries for our cameras. best results until now are bebob v140rm - bebob gives a guarantuee on their batteries - and they work very fine.
at the end you need to know how much capacity a battery have after 1 year, 2 years, 3 years.

We use SWIT batteries and they're great, but they're 190w and 120w I believe.

I also have Swit batteries that I use with my Red. The ones I have are 126w. They are great batteries. I have been using Swit batteries right back to SP Betacam camera days.

I have been using SWIT S-8172 Flight Safe 80+80Wh V-mount batteries with good success. 2 year warranty, just had one replaced after 1.5 years. Great service.

curious if this is being used with the RED One or Epic?
Considering purchasing these for the Scarlet.

If not, are any users having good results with Epic?
