Check that one out but I would also just call Aberdeen at 1-888-300-5545 and ask their advice as well.

DAS or SAN Storage?

If DAS (Direct attached storage) the best and the fastest is Ciprico MediaVault 5116 (somewhere around $4000 without HDDs).

If SAN you have a lot of choice and you need to go with fiber connections
much slower and a lot more expensive than Ciprico DAS but you can share the storage with other workstations.

If you don't need to share storage the MediaVault 5116 is a killer and almost inexpensive.

We just purchased our second ProDQ array. They are very fast, very stable and very easy to configure. You can easily expand with a ProEX and they will be releasing a software based shared storage solution later this year which you can use with these arrays. On top of that their support is stellar. Give them a call if you have questions, their staff is extremely knowledgeable and helpful.

Ciprico wen bankrupt... id like to reignite this thread.

so far, agree with shooter.. Aberdeen seems to be the best bang for $
buy far... but I trust there are new players.

thoughts ?? Cheetah versus Sata? does it (disk speed) matter when the bottleneck is on the BUS anyway...??
