  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

I don't think either one is a good choice. You need display actually intended for grading, which is way, way out of this price range.

Right now, the LG OLED B6 (and the recently-announced B7) are pretty much the lowest-cost displays out there that can be calibrated, assuming you have the right software and photometer. But for HDR, you'll need a Sony BVM-X300 ($30K) or a Dolby Pulsar (rentable). HDR is monstrously complicated and involved.

What could work as a compromise is, you correct the entire project in Rec709 on a reasonable calibrated display, then once that's done, book some time at a facility capable of HDR correction and spend a couple of days in a room doing a trim pass for HDR10. That is doable and not ridiculously expensive.
