Are there other options for bellows for the RedRock Mattebox? The rubber donut has been fine, but I was curious if there was something faster or more convenient.

THANKS! :)

You should call Mitch at Abel Cine. You can adapt the ARRI bellows unit for your Redrock but it will probably cost a little more than the actual Redrock!

I remember a post some time ago where Mitch listed the Arri part numbers required, can't seem to find it again. It would be really useful to have the information again.
Tom.

You can use the bellows adapter for the arri MB 20 II. You would need the bellows adapter which is something like 450 and a bellows ring which I think is like 300 or so. I've been thinking about it myself since I would like a 138mm pola.

Thanks guys. That's too much for me spend now, but I'm still interested to see how it works. anyone have any pictures or anything? How is the arri set different than the rubber donut?

THANKS! :)

I thought Brian was talking about manufacturing a bellows adapter for the RR. I'm not sure how that's going. I also agree that one of its biggest drawbacks is a lack of bellows and 138mm round stage. I am happy with the new 15mm studio bracket, even though it's a little beefier and heavier than it needs to be.

Agreed, this would be a good next step for Mr. Valente. He has for sure sold a bunch of those matte boxes, so just keep on keeping on.

There is no way to go any closer without RR redesigning their housing. I have used it with my 20-120mm Angenieux zoom in 4K and my 9.5-57mm Angenieux zoom in 2K without any vignetting problems even with the 3rd stage in place. I haven't tried it with anything wider, so I don't know how much below 20mm I can go without issues.

Hey Larry,

Are you pleased with the results out of the little 6to1 for 2k? That little lens was way ahead of it's time, espically with it's fast stop.

Chuck, I have shot entire projects with that little lens. It is great. My clients have been very happy with the images.

I took a dremel to my RR, only I used a 6x6 Bellows w/ a 138mm. I fashioned my own screw to tie the Bellows in. The rubber donuts dont work, and really suck.

, it at least now holds a 138mm.

Brian Valente,
I'd rather you guys made one of these bellows receivers that fit closer to the back 4x5 stage and has the standard ball bering clip-in method.

Tonaci, the bellows is removable. I can go back to using the original donuts if I need to. I was careful not to remove too much of the opening in the housing so the bellows would be tight enough to stay in place, but not so tight that it couldn't be easily removed.

BTW, the bellows accommodates a 138mm round filter. I failed to mention that in the earlier post.

yes, I second that.. would love to see how this setup looks and works.
The rubber dougnuts become a pain when you are on long shoots..with a multitude of lens changes a day.

Hi fellas,

Here are a couple pics of my RR Mattebox with Arri bellows, including 138mm filter support, 100mm and 80mm adpators.

Cheers,
Damien
