Red on rental in Brussels

Red on rental in Brussels

Hi everybody, I can confirm that we (Athalys) have 2 RED camera reserved (#285 & #286) with all the accessories from RED including lenses. There is so much demands here in Belgium that we allready re-ordered 2 more cameras.
I hope that she will meet all our expectations,...
Wait and see.

Athalys Brussels.

The first 2 RED (#285 & #286) in Athalys - Eye-Lite Group should arrive in Brussels for mid January. Both will be tested and available for DOP willing to "touch the beast". And then ready for rental.
We are planning to offer the full line of RED lenses, but the choice remain by our clients to choose also Cooke S4 or Zeiss Ultra Prime. Recording will be available on HDD 320Gb or RAMPACK 64GB.
The next 2 camera serial number ordered by Athalys are #1947, #1948, and expected for April.
We will propose also a Workflow management service (transfer & dub of the rushes, even on the set, upon request of the production company. Dub will be available on HDD owned production company, but also HDCAM or even other tape format. We will offer as well LTO backup tape & Quicktime DVD.
Information upon request at rental@eye-lite.com or by phone 32-2-702-1650 (Philip or Jean-Philippe)

We have a reservation too for a REDONE. We are from Zeeland in the Netherlands and I believe we have a reservation number around 2100.

We plan on using it mostly for shooting tv commercials, action sports (slowmotion) and promo videos. We do not claim to be DP's who know what they are doing (we don't), we just need a brilliant camera to make sure that the camera can not be the thing that is limiting the quality of our products. I really don't like walking around with a feeling of insecurity whether footage will technically look good enough once broadcast on television. So once having good tools, it then comes down to creativity combined with experience; learning how to deal with a camera like that. But we see it as a challenge, rather then having ourselves scared off. We figure we might as well start building experience with decent tools then.

Yes, fanboys here. However I am skeptical too, as more and more problems seem to arise with the camera (which is actually a logical thing to happen), and it slowly turns out to be a little less versatile then was first anticipated. Until now RED seemed to have responded well to problems, so that is a very good thing and we dare to put quite a bit faith in RED by now. We'll see how things develop and whether the camera will be the right tool for us. Maybe we will look elsewhere in the end and cancel our reservation after all, but probably not.

For a quick impression of what we do, here is a hidden link for our 2007 showreel:

Would be good to meet up with some other (potential) Red users from Belgium or the Netherlands sometime.

Best regards,

Time Travel Movie in Belgium

Time Travel Movie in Belgium

Hi all,
I'm looking for a Red camera to shoot the first scene of a science fiction movie with the themes of time travel and cloning (think The Prestige meets Back to the Future, and some of the comedy stylings of Futurama), with English-language actors but produced in Belgium.
This is a very independently produced flick, I'm a freelance all-round film person, I've made plenty of short films but it would be my first feature. That's why I'm shooting only the first ten pages, over propably two weekends mid-februari 2008. I've assembled a talented crew and am doing visual effects and prop-building myself. I would love to have a chance to work with a Red cam on this project, but I have to say up front I won't be able to pay a lot of money. Yup, it's one of those projects, but hopefully after shooting the first scene will make finding the funding necessary for shooting the remaining 80 minutes possible, at least that's the plan.
So if any red user here is interested in collaborating on this project, please let me know.
