BEE.jpg

Working on some Slo Mo (120 fps) recently, just to test something out. Here's a still. Footage belongs to Russell Campbell here in South Africa. We got the arrival, using the ten second buffer, activity on the flower and the departure. Nice sequence.

Cheers,
Mark.

very cool -

Maybe you could enlight me on this matter...
Why these bug close-up shots tend to have a black BG? Is this at night?
Are the insects lit with some portable diffused light for these kinda shots?

To isolate the subject I crushed the blacks. The background was slightly dark so that explains the pp. If PP in the motion file is also done this way, my preference, it isolates the action to the exact subject, that of the Bee in slo mo. Just a personal preference.

Cheers,
Mark.
